  8. What a great version of the Kinks' song you linked to. I haven't heard that one before. Found out it's from the live To The Bone album recorded in '93 - '94. The original from 1966 is not bad either. My #1 probably!

  11. Walk on the Water - CCR 1968 From an article in Wikipedia about Turntablism: "Examples of turntable effects can also be found on popular records produced in the 1960s and 1970's. Creedence Clearwater Revival's 1968 self-titled debut album features a backspin effect in the song "Walk on the Water". However, turntablism as we know it now did not surface until the introduction of hip hop in the late 1970s."

  14. Cliff Richard & The Shadows surely changed the course of British music in the late 50's and early 60s. Cliff turned 70 last week! He was born on Oct 14 1940 just 6 days after John Lennon's birth. In 1958 he released his first single, "Move It". The single went to No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Music critics Roy Carr and Tony Tyler wrote that it was the first genuine British rock classic, followed by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates' "Shakin' All Over". John Lennon was quoted as saying that "Move It" was the first English rock record and "before Cliff and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music."
  15. The Story of Bo Diddley - The Animals 1964 Eric Burdon and the Animals were great at telling stories musically. This one was the first track on their very first LP. The video has some nice footage too. Wham Bam, Thank You Mam - The Small Faces 1967
