Yeah, it's much more ambient than their last few records... still nice.
I think Amanda Palmer's new album (which was completely financed by a Kickstarter campaign) should be released soon, shouldn't it?

Slashing It Down ~ Flies On You (2012)
Delilah ~ The Dresden Dolls (2006)
Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space ~ Spiritualized (1997)
How has that song not made it yet?
Fun Fact: The title of the song (and album) are a quote from Sophie's World
"Only philosophers embark on this perilous expedition to the outermost reaches of language and existence. Some of them fall off, but others cling on desperately and yell at the people nestling deep in the snug softness, stuffing themselves with delicious food and drink. 'Ladies and Gentlemen,' they yell, 'we are floating in space!' But none of the people down there care."

Daniel Bukvich's "Symphony No. 1 (In Memoriam Dresden)" performed by the 2012 PMEA Region III Concert Band.
It is a very interesting piece; probably the most original I have ever played. It tells the story of the fire bombing of Dresden. During the piece, we had to speak in German and other instruments had to do other effects. The fourth movement ent is the firestorm itself and various instruments had to perform different tasks. The low brass played a dissonant chord to sound like the bombers, while others whistled and screamed as the movement went on.
Is that this one?
That sounds almost... disturbing, I have to say but I guess that's what it's intended to be.

It's actually a user-specific setting, even though I admit I don't remember which option is used as default for it.
You can go to My Fusion > Control Panel > Display Settings and there chose for yourself whether or not you want to "Display Online Details"

I actually really like the video. The whole concept of "guy keeps stoically doing his thing while completely ignoring everything around him" reminds me of one of my favourite music videos of all: Rabbit in Your Headlights by UNKLE (directed by Jonathan Glazer)
compliments to the whole film crew, it's a really good quality
also the umbrella's awesome

or you Beth Ditto?
seriously, of course there are exceptions, quite a few of them in fact, but the "pretty face / no artistic talent" scheme is really not a new invention...
-
You're saying that as if that was different in the past decadesThe girls nowadays are used for their looks and their voice... no real creative talent. -
I know the meme with Justin Bieber vs Queen
btw, fun fact: When Bohemian Rhapsody reached its peak of #9 in the Billboard Charts, the #1 was Disco Lady ~ Johnny Taylor

He does seem a bit familiar, but I just can't put a name to him...

Torturing James Hetfield
Well, we got James Hetfield
And we tied him up tight
Naked and cold
We kept the strip lights bright
Said what have you got for us James
He said nothing at all
So we dragged some speakers
In from the hall
James James James
Just give us names names names
James James James
Well, we tried every tune in the songbook
To loosen his tongue
We played Simply Red nonstop
He just swayed along
Then we had an idea
A new plan of attack
Thought that even a deaf man
Would bend and crack
James James James
Just give us names names names
James James James
Now look what we've brought for you James
Your favorite disc
It's Chumbawamba
Their greatest hits (There's only one)
Turned up the volume
You should've heard him sing (Oh how he sings)
He cried like a baby
And told us everything (it was Lars!)
James James James
Just give us names names names
James James James
("Torturing James Hetfield" is a response to James Hetfield's approval of the use of Metallica's music as a torture device against Iraqi prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. (Source))

I guess they're not that popular, especially in the US, but I still enjoyed their albums, including the more recent ones

Doesn't that tell you something?

After reading your post I went there to put up some tags (are 'post-punk' and 'noise rock' appropriate in your opinion?), so that's how I noticed
btw, could you direct your collaborator to this post?
Generally, at least until you have a decent amount of listeners, I would always recommend putting up your music as "free full-length preview"
Also the more users are tagging the music, the better it will be too!
So if any of you SFers have a Last.fm account - use it to scrobble and to tag!

I mentioned this in the other thread already, how about adding your stuff to Last.fm too? It's CBS owned if that makes a difference
Hit me with any questions you might have about it

It's an old cliché, but in most cases it's PEBKAC
Also: use Linux to not only be safe..r, but also to support open source and free software
(and not to be depended on single monopolistic corporations)
