  1. Don't Give Up On Us Baby was always played on a cassette while I was getting a facial. Maybe they found it soothing. I don't find it *so* bad but do think it is relatively cheesy. All I can think of when I hear that song is Owen Wilson strumming that song out and Ben Stiller high on some special brownies anyways. :)

How about anything by Jennifer Love Hewitt?

  2. People really need to take a look at Lifes Rich Pageant, a really strong but not so well known R.E.M. album.

It came about at the time in their career where they weren't super-huge big (that's be during Out of Time) or even mildly popular (that's be during Document and the radio-friendly singles The One I Love and Stand). The faster-paced songs also have an earest energy about them. It's hard not to dance along to "Just A Touch" or "Begin the Begin." Lifes Rich Pageant also has some of the most beautiful ballad songs I have ever heard on there ("The Flowers of Guatemala" and "Swan Swan H") and quirky lyrics that Michael Stipe was becoming famous (infamous?) for: "I Believe" and Underneath The Bunker."

  3. It has to be more than that. Nirvana is one of the best bands ever and The Smiths have this really happy sound sometimes, until you actually listen to the lyrics. But just like the people you hang out with, someone who is sad and depressed all the time, or angry or happy, a one-trick-pony type personality gets boring after awhile. I also don't want to hear They Might Be Giants extensively: silly is good but not all the time.

  4. I've been listening to Jeff Buckley songs recently and it reminds me of the time when I must have been about 12 or so when I first got into the Beatles and I saw A Hard Day's Night for the first time, and I had no idea up until that point about what happened to John Lennon. I mean, I did, but I hadn't known about him and how talented and funny he seemed. And then to be told the guy's no longer around cause of something awful that happened...well, I feel the same way now about Jeff Buckley. Great great songs, and what a horrible shame he's gone.

  5. Oh wow...either The Real Me or Substitute. Has anyone seen the MOJO cover article on them for (I think) February? I really liked Fastball's version of "The Real Me" and Pat DiNizio's version of "Behind Blue Eyes."

And Christmas...I had forgotten all about that song until I read someone else mention it. I remember seeing the musical Tommy when I was in high school and that song just killed me the first time I ever heard it.

And being a fan of CSI (ha ha) I like Won't Get Fooled Again.

  6. RE: Jeff Buckley, is all his stuff like Hallelujah? I know it's not his song, and I absolutely love it even though I find it so beautifully sad.

I guess I mean I can not imagine him having anything happy and uptempo (not necessarily a bad thing), especially knowing of this song and then that he has an album called "My Sweetheart The Drunk."

  7. And does anyone else see a bit of a parallel between Oasis and Driveshaft? I guess the same kind of "brotherly dynamic" existed in The Kinks as well, but I always think of Liam and Noel whenever I see Charlie and...hey, Liam...on the screen.

  8. I remember when we were going through Beverly Hills when I was with my friend in 1998, it took all I had to not ask her to drive through Blue Jay Way just because to appease the Beatles fan in me. I thought she would think I was too weird or something.

I saw it on a map, though, and I can see how people would have gotten lost looking for it. It's pretty removed from a main road. :)

  9. For me, in no real order:

    Mr. Moonlight

    The Long and Winding Road

    Blue Jay Way

    Run For Your Life

    Because

I Want You (She's So Heavy)

    Act Naturally

    The Inner Light

    P.S. I Love You

    Revolution 9

I guess that does it for me, first instincts and all. Some are too cheesy for me, some are too scary. Nobody's perfect! :)

And hey, I'm all for everyone having their own opinions, but I always liked All Together Now. Very throwaway but fun to sing with.

  10. I absolutely LOVE this show, the only thing is they are being really slow (or just not quick enough for me) with showing the Season 2 eps in Hong Kong.

I have already converted one friend who kind of laughed and rolled her eyes at me when I raved about how good this show is to her; now she's obsessed with Sawyer! Ha ha ha!
