US and UK Songs that flopped at Home but HIT in Other Countries

Here's one that fans of U.S. Country Music might know. It made the U.S. Country Top Ten and was a moderately successful 'crossover' Hit, reaching #54 on the Billboard Pop Charts in 1971. Here in Australia it got to #2 and received a heap of airplay. L.A. International Airport - Susan Raye (1971) -

That's $100.00 more than 45s used to cost in 1963 -
We did talk about this in a PT. My suggestion was - no male 'featured' singers', no duets with males, no male singers in a Group. Backup male singers are certainly OK. Are there some that don't meet those requirements I haven't listened to any yet. Better make a ruling if there are Kenne, so people can renominate if necessary. I used to make many wise and popular decisions like this. And don't forget - you can't please everyone. That's why we get paid the Big Bucks.

Yes, I like it very much. Especially having Elvis in. I''ve been compiling, on and off for the last 2 years, my favourite 100 Elvis songs. I have it down to 120 now. I have the list divided into 2 halves - the first in larger print. I've only gotten as far as numbering #s 1 -15. 'Return To Sender' is currently my #11. It's a shame that our two Canadian friends didn't vote. Maybe, with their ties to the British Monarchy - like Australia - it's a long weekend Public Holiday there ? No camping out here - it's been raining since Saturday evening. Not that I'm a jolly camper; snakes, leeches, spiders, and other bities. I'll just have to watch TV and :haveabeer: -
