I guess it's just whatever you prefer... personally, I think that fourth version would make me run.
Can you explain which part of the fourth version would make you run? And by that, are you saying it would make you run away from a wedding?

One thing that has always confused me about marriage vows is the part about what the officiant says to the couple about to be married. My confusion comes from the fact that there are so many different versions of the, what's that called again, the, consent. Or is that the question of intent? Some say that some versions are more "Passive" than others. Look at the following examples, and tell me if you agree. Here, I'll use mine and my boyfriend's names as an example.
Version 1.
Officiant says to John: Do you, John, take Annabelle to be your lawfully wedded wife?
John Answers: I Do.
Officiant says to Annabelle: Do you, Annabelle, take John to be your lawfully wedded husband?
Annabelle Answers: I Do.
Version 2.
Officiant Says to John: John, Do you take Annabelle to be your Wife? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect her, forsaking all others and holding only unto her?
John Answers: I do.
Officiant Says to Annabelle: Annabelle, Do you take John to be your Husband? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him, forsaking all others and holding only unto him?
Annabelle Answers: I do.
Version 3.
Officiant says to John: John, will you take Annabelle as your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in love and marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health? And, forsaking all others, be faithful only unto her, until death do you part?
John Answers: I Will.
Officiant says to Annabelle: Annabelle, will you take John as your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in love and marriage? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health? And, forsaking all others, be faithful only unto him, until death do you part?
Annabelle Answers: I Will.
Version 4.
Officiant says to John: John, wilt thou have this woman to thy wedded wife, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou love her, comfort her, honor, and keep
her in sickness and in health, and, forsaking all others, keep thee only unto her, so long as ye both shall live?
John Ansers: I will.
Officiant says to Annabelle: Annabelle, wilt thou have this man to thy wedded husband, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou obey him, and serve him, love, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, and, forsaking all others, keep thee only unto him, so long as ye both shall live?
Annabelle Ansers: I will.

Are you sure that's thunder? It sounds so synthesized to me.
-
I've been listening to the song "Fortress Around Your Heart", by Sting, and something interesting "Struck a Chord" with me. Right before the music starts, there's a sound that sounds somewhat like thunder. I wonder, what could that be? Is it a bomb? Is it a gun? Is it a synthesized explosion?

My confusion is evidenced in the following lyrics.
The flower of England, face down in the mud.
And stained in the blood, of a whole generation.

There's this song by Sting that I've been listening to for the past few days, and I was listening very carefully to the lyrics. The song is "Children's Crusade", which is taken from "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles".I have a few questions about this song, and I was wondering if you have the answers for me.
1. What is (was) the Children's Crusade? Was it a Peace March in England during World War I?
2. What is the Flower Of England? Does it refer to a flower? A Queen? A Princess?
3. How can a flower be slaughtered?

Hi there, all you Fellow Songfacts Members.
I was wondering, where can I find a live solo recording of James Taylor's song "Little More Time With You"? I'm specifically looking for the version that he sang when he appeared on VH1's Storytellers. Is it available on any of his albums or videos? If so, where can I find it? Is there a downloadable version that someone can post on YouSendIt for me? I would kindly appreciate it.

I remember you said that last year. But somehow, last April, it wasn't there.

We've had a lot of requests to make our categories (songs writen by Bob Dylan, songs with food in the title, etc.) available in a central location. Since these links are generated by queries - the database looks to see what other songs are tagged the same way - this wasn't so easy. We called in the developers and they are going to rebuild the engine so we can get these links to behave. My thought is to create a page with a bunch of sections like "Title Quirks," "Songwriter" and "About," then put links to any appropriate categories under each one. If you guys have suggestions for how we should implement this, please post.
I have a suggestion for the groups of categories. how about this. "Title Querks", "Featuring", "Songwriter", "About", "Used In", "Written For", "Inspired By". Also, do you know of an approximate date when this will be applicable? I've been checking the songfacts home page periodically, and the "Browse By Category" feature is still not there.

When you've used Ares, have you had any viruses? The reason why I ask is because when I had Kazaa, my computer crashed four times, then two years ago, I got a virus. Also, unbeknownst to me, I had a bunch of porn put onto my system. Believe me, I didn't put it there! It wasn't my idea, it just automatically got sent to me. I hope Ares doesn't have that risk.
-
Is Ares better than programs like Kazaa and Bearshare? Or is it about the same?
-
Does MacAfee work in conjunction with Ares? MacAfee is an antivirus software from Comcast, and it's free.
-
My music teacher, Markus Johnson, who is also a dear friend of mine, uses a Mac.
-
Aren't there any websites where I can download, without the risk of viruses?

I have actually heard the version by Jose Feliciano. I didn't see it as controversial, just slow and bluesy. Did you know that Jose is blind just like me? So, back to my original question. Do you know of where I can find downloads of the Cher version from Superbowl 33 and the Faith Hill version from Superbowl 34?

Hello there, all you fellow Songfacts Members.
There's this song that struck me as funny when I heard it in Baltimore on WWMX, Mix 106.5. It happened to be on an episode of the Doctor Dimento Show. I can't remember what episode it was, but the song was "Who Farted" by Uncle Tone. I tried to download it from SpiralFrog, but unfortunately, from what I've read on their website, they won't let you burn music onto a CD. I was wondering, if anyone has this song, could you please post it on YouSendIt for me? I would kindly appreciate it.

Hi there, all you fellow Songfacts Members.
I was wondering, does anyone have any downloadable versions of "The Star-Spangled Banner"? There are two specific versions that I'm looking for. I'm looking for the version sung by Cher. And I'm also looking for the version sung by Faith Hill. Were these ever released as studio recordings? Or were they just recordings from the Super Bowl Games? If anybody has these two versions, would you please be so kind as to post them on YouSendIt for me? I would kindly appreciate it.

I know for sure that the original album this song is on was "Reading Rainbow Songs". Here's the link. http://www.wriukids.org/wish/readingrainbowsongs.html

No, actually the album I'm looking for is "Reading Rainbow Songs". This is the original album which the song "Ancient Places, Sacred Lands" is on. It was recorded and released in 1984. The company that released it is Caedmon Records.

Actually, the link I meant to put, in case anyone wants to see what I mean, as in, this isn't the full version of the event, the link to this video is http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=9271965

I wonder, does Barnes & Noble in Eugene, Oregon perhaps have a copy of "Reading Rainbow Songs"? Is it possible to find this recording on CD? Or is it only available on Cassette Tape?
-
Interesting article. Now, I still want to knoe where I can possibly find this Kenny G World Record, the audio version of his long sax note. By the way, when he made that long note, was it his tenor sax? Or was it his soprano sax?

indigoboo for her use of l337-speak; I'm just being a jerk, as usual.
You're not a jerk! You're a sweetheart! And by the way, what's l337-speak?
