  1. One song that I've been looking for is "All I Need", the 1984 hit by Jack Wagner. Do any of you remember Jack Wagner? I've tried searching on ITunes, but the only version I can find is the Karaoke Version. There seems to be a bit of confusion in my mind about this song. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that song was also included on "General Hospital"? Also, isn't Jack Wagner technically considered a one-hit wonder? I'm surprised I didn't see this song in the categories of, "Songs Used in TV Shows", and "Songs From One-Hit Wonders".

  2. Hi there, all you fellow Songfacts Members.

One song that has struck me as loving and passionate is Ben Taylor's sweet version of the Beatles tune, "I Will". However, what is very confusing to me, is that Ben actually recorded two different versions of the song. In this post, you'll find two links. The first link is to the original arrangement that Ben Taylor recorded. The second is to the one that you all might be more familiar with, the version that appears on the soundtrack of the movie, "Bye Bye Love". Frank Filipetti, the man who produced it with James Taylor, told me that the first version is in fact the original recording of Ben's arrangement. However, I do apologize for the poor quality of these files, since they were taken directly from a streaming version of the music video. Also, you'll notice that both of these recordings are Mono. I'm looking for a CD-quality, Stereo, 16-bit, 44KHZ, 128KBPS MP3 version of the first recording, And I know that there's got to be one out there somewhere. I've spent hours and hours upon hours of time, searching and searching and searching in hundreds of record stores around the world, and the only version they can find in CD Quality is the second recording, the one from the soundtrack of "Bye Bye Love". They tell me, the other version was available quite a while ago, but there's a good chance that it's out of print. And the best way to find it is to do a bit of research in places and services that specialize in hard-to-find and out-of-print music. I've even spent hours and hours upon hours of time, searching and searching and searching on thousands of music sharing services, even Bearshare and ITunes, and I'm shocked to find out that the problem is the same, in other words, the only version I can find in CD-Quality is the second recording, the one from the soundtrack of "Bye Bye Love". A short explanation of this would be, I've spent hours and hours upon hours of time, searching and searching and searching in lots of places, and I still don't know where to turn! Fortunately, Frank Filipetti said that the first version is out there somewhere, I've just gotta keep searching. Frank said to me, "don't give up hope, it's out there. Just keep your feet on the ground, hold your head up high, and keep reaching for the stars." Well, when I was talking with Sam Weisman on the phone about two months ago, he told me a different story. He said that the only version he remembers is the one that appears on the soundtrack. When I sent him both versions, he told me that perhaps somebody pirated the first version. Do you believe that that's a true statement? Sam told me that the story that Frank told me about this song was perhaps an error. Is that true? Maybe Frank's right, maybe Sam's memory of this recording isn't exactly like his. Since I told him all about what Frank said to me, but he said that Ben Taylor recording "I Will" for "Bye Bye Love" was all his idea. He told me, and I quote, Ben Taylor was hired to record a cover of "I Will", after he (Sam Weisman) had listened to a demo of him (Ben Taylor) singing on a recording with Carly Simon. The recording session was arranged after Sam was denied permission by James Taylor to include the song "Shower The People" as part of the soundtrack to "Bye Bye Love". He wanted to include the original version of "I Will", by The Beatles, but at the time, he had no way of contacting the entities of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, or Ringo Star. So, willing to go along with Ben Taylor performing a cover of "I Will", Sam called Carly Simon, and Carly told him that Ben and James were skiing in New Mexico. She then gave Sam the number of where Ben and James were staying, then Sam called them in New Mexico. Sam remembers that Ben and James recorded the song, with Ben singing, and James playing guitar. Then they took it to New York, where it was finished. Then it was finally put onto the soundtrack. Do you perhaps agree with that story? Or do you agree more with Frank's side of the story? The link for you to see the music video for the first version of Ben's recording is

Compare this version with the version from "Bye Bye Love".

Try this, take both versions, and compare them side-by-side. Tell me if you notice any differences in the length and the musical arrangements of both versions. You can even tell me which one of these versions you like best. Oh, and by the way, Sam gave me a couple of names of people that might have information about where the tracks might be. One is Robert Kraft, the other is Evyen Klean. Do those names sound familiar to you? Anyway, both are Music Producers. Robert Kraft is the President of Music at 20th Century Fox. As for Evyen Klean, I don't exactly know his title or his field of work. If anyone has any answers for me, you can either post them here, or you can send them to me via Email at

    foristnights@comcast.net

I check my emails several times each day, so please feel free to contact me via Email at any time.

  3. Another thing that confused me is the key of the song. When I look at the sheet music, it says that the music is arranged for voice and piano, and is written in the key of D-Major. However, when I hear the TV version, it's played in the key of G-Major. On the sheet music which I've read, it specifically lists two of the verses. A few days ago, When I talked with Jack Urbont, the man who wrote the song, he said there's a little more than just those two verses. He told me that one day, he wrote lyrics when Randy Sparks, the leader of The New Christy Minstrels, approached Jack and asked if they could record the song for one of their albums. He told me that the song was originally an instrumental, then Randy asked Jack, "Are there lyrics?" to which Jack responded, "No, but there can be.". However, I can't seem to find the full version of the lyrics. Jack told me that the version heard on TV is shorter than the version with lyrics, simply because the middle section was taken off. He said the vocal version is a little over 2 minutes, whereas the TV version is 1 minute 30 seconds. Has anyone perhaps heard a vocal version of this tune? Also, which album is the TV Version of this song available on? That way, I can request it for ITunes.

    Verse 1

    Autumn breeze blowing

    Wind of whispering sighs

    I can't help knowing

    You're blowing me a surprise

    Verse 2

    Autumn breeze flowing

    Like a melody

    I can't help glowing

    Knowing what you bring me

The included lyrics were obtained by accessing the listed website (looks like a ripoff) and by "borrowing" my wife's big a*# sewing room magnifying glass (the large circular type with a neon light), I was able to read and write them. The magnifying glass will now go out to my shop until the sewing bug hits again. Thank you, I have been need ing a magnifier like that for quite some time.

    :o

What was a ripoff? By the way, were those lyrics originally written for the song? I've never once heard a vocal version of the theme from "General Hospital". I wonder if the lyrics were originally a romantic poem that somebody wrote, and somehow they fit with the music.

 Will it cost me anything to view the sheet music? Also, do you perhaps have a recording of the original version of this song? Besides, I've already viewed the link you gave me. That's where I found the first lines of lyrics. I'm now wondering, are there more than just those lyrics?

  6.

When I first heard "Autumn Breeze", the 1980's theme song to "General Hospital", the thing that confused me is, are there lyrics? When I look at the sheet music, it says that the music is arranged for voice and piano. On the sheet music, it specifically says the following.

Lyrics begin: "Autum breeze blowing. Wind of whisp'ring sighs."

Are there more lyrics to this music? Also, which album is this song available on? That way, I can request it for ITunes.

  7. have you already looked into allmusic.com?

there are various tv theme compilations in which you might find most of those

eg. TV Hero's has Doug's Main theme

The Persuaders! & Other Top Seventies TV Themes has "Red Alert (Theme from General Hospital)"

Actually, yes I have, and I still can't find them. By the way, is "Red Alert" the theme to the ABC soap opera "General Hospital"? Or are you thinking of the series that aired in the UK?
  8. I am an avid fan of TV Theme Music, and there are a few TV Themes I've been wanting to find. These are the themes I'm trying to find, and I was wondering what albums these are available on, so I could request them for ITunes.

  9. BabyTeen,

Here's what I was able to find.

Many, but not all performances from VH1 Storytellers have been released.

Looks like JT is one that hasn't been released, as I could not find it anywhere.

There are also Storytellers Greatest Moments DVDs released.

James Taylor appeared on the show Mar. 26, 1997.

[Veteran singer-songwriter (and the latest signee to Starbucks Hear Music label) James Taylor has the live album, One Man Band. On the combination CD/DVD set, Taylor performs several of his greatest hits in concert, while revealing the stories behind the songs in the more intimate format made famous by the VH1 Storytellers series.]

Maybe this would make a good substitution.

James Taylor: One Man Band CD+DVD

Here's a list of performers who have appeared on the Storytellers show:

    VH1 Storytellers episode guide

Do a thorough search of their site. There's more to be found.

From the VH1 homepage, I clicked on the link that said "VH1 Classic", then from that page I clicked on the link that said "The Greatest" and landed here:

    VH1 The Greatest

It's got many of the videos from their countdown shows, not for sale but you get to watch them.

I clicked on the link with the Episode Guide for Storytellers, but unfortunately, there's nothing there that tells me whether or not those episodes were released on VHS and/or DVD.

  10. Do you know of an approximate date when the "Browse By Category" feature will be applicable? I've been checking the songfacts home page periodically, and the "Browse By

Category" feature is still not there. I know you said that the developers are behind on this. When do you suppose this feature will be available? The only ones I've seen so far are, "Browse By Song Title", "Browse By Year", and "Browse By Artist". Also, on the links labeled "#", my screenreader sees them as an unnamed link. Would it be a possibility to name these links something like, "#0-9"? This refers to links with song titles or artists whose names start with a number from 0 to 9. This would be easier for screenreaders to recognize.

  11. I clicked on both of those links, and I've scoured them entirely. However, I can't seem to find anything that was interesting to me. I'm wondering, did they ever release the full collection of "Behind The Music" on DVD? And, what about "The Greatest", and "Vh1 Storytellers"? The storytellers episode I'm looking for is James Taylor.

  12. Do you know perhaps when they might become available? I haven't seen Behind the Music since, gosh, who knows when. And it seems these days, when I want to listen to stuff like "100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders", I just can't catch it in time when it comes on TV. Like the other day, for instance, when I turned on the TV to VH1 (Channel 62 on Comcast Basic Cable), I only caught the countdown at about #79, and I watched it from there on. I just wish I could catch the full five hours from #100, all the way to Number 1!

  13. Hi there, all you fellow Songfacts Members.

I was wondering, do you by any chance know where I can find DVD's of E! shows like "The E! True Hollywood Story", "THS Investigates", "101 Biggest Celebrity Oops!", "101 Most Shocking Moments In Entertainment", "101 Best Kept Hollywood Secrets", and other E! Countdowns?

  14. That's the ONLY vow I'd make the woman say.

    :afro: :afro: :afro: :jester:

When most people hear the word "Obey", the one thing that comes to mind is, "Will you do as you're told or else?" Also, when you hear the words, "Wilt thou obey him and serve him, wouldn't you think that they mean the husband requires the wife to be his servant and slave?

  15. Hey, don´t get maried... You avoid further complications with lawyers and papers that are yet less understandable than what you hear when you get maried.

Edna, I want you to know that John and I have been together for ten years, and we've always wanted to get married. And, on top of that, neither one of us is the cheatin' kind!
