I think if it's just selecting one album, then it still isn't a fair way of doing it.
To be honest, I don't feel very inclined to put anything forward for MoC, which is a shame.

Agree on the Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah", and also Leonard Cohens.
Bird York makes me really emotional, and her voice is spine-tingling on most tracks.
Enya, with the 'Shepherd Moons' album is chilling as well.

"He'll never be a mechanic as long as he has a hole in his a$$"
It's such a common phrase said amongst my colleagues that we have to be careful not to write feedback from assessments mentioning those exact words.

John Martyn most definitely...
Kate Bush "Breathing", "Cloudbusting"
Hazel O'Connor "Will You"
When I get home I'll think of loads more...

Foxy, is that sequined top a La Croix?
Wah?

They were really annoying, my brother had one, and then left the rest of the family to care for it!

We had dial-up internet at 1p per minute after 6pm, but before then it was 5p per minute...
During the first quarter (for the phone bill), my brother and I ran up an astonishing £250 phone bill. After being banned for a few months, we eventually came to an understanding with my mum that we would only stay on the internet for as long as our pocket money could fund it. Great maths lesson!

Leo – Sequins and satins and silks, oh my! That's what generally comprises a Leo's wardrobe. This sign also has a special affinity for animal prints and faux fur. Lions are also a big fan of labels, and usually favor one or two designers. Their favorite colors are red, gold, and black – the more dramatic the effect, the better. Gold jewelry is a must.
Sequins/satin/silk ~ yes my wardrobe encorporates more of these now!
Fur ~ I own a faux fur gilet but that's the only clothing..I do sleep wrapped in 2 faux fur blankets on top of satin bedding though...so I'm extravagant when it comes to bedtime
I tend to wear more bright colours in Summer, but I'm mainly an earthy kind of girl and wear browns and blacks. Lately I bought a red top, and I only have gold sequins etc on earthy tones..nothing tacky I hope...(Monsoons not tacky as far as I know!)
And gold jewellery - ewww...Silver or white gold for me.

Be very proud to be British because...
Only in Britain... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.
Only in Britain... do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in Britain... do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET coke.
Only in Britain... do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.
Only in Britain... do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.
NOT TO MENTION...
3 Brits die each year testing if a 9v battery works on their tongue.
142 Brits were injured in 1999 by not removing all pins from new shirts.
31 Brits have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while the fairylights were plugged in.
19 Brits have died in the last 3 years believing that Christmas decorations were chocolate.
British Hospitals reported 4 broken arms last year after cracker pulling accidents.
18 Brits had serious burns in 2000 trying on a new jumper with a lit cigarette in their mouth.
A massive 543 Brits were admitted to A&E in the last two years after opening bottles of beer with their teeth.
5 Brits were injured last year in accidents involving out of control Scalextric cars.
And finally.........
In 2000 eight Brits cracked their skull whilst throwing up into the toilet.
RULE BRITANNIA!!

Sorry, not with it, or perhaps I didn't think I'd hear any reference, however slight, to a Frank Sinatra song on a 'one hit wonders' thread
-
Uh? Explain...
-
So make a thread....I have a few...
-
Fortunately I do....and now I'm listening to it and love it even more!
In my last job, I processed work orders to various contractors, and one of the electricians would come in and sing this song to me every morning..."Oh it's in color Your hair is brown
Your eyes are hazel And soft as clouds" (me = brown hair/hazel eyes)...he started singing it when he first met me...weird...

I remember Pogs, Tamagotchis, Yo-yos, Furbys, Slap bracelets, 'shag' bands, Care Bears, Cabbage Patch dolls...etc...etc...!
-
I just lurve "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors (as mentioned so many times before....)
And I have 'No Parlez' by Paul Young on cassette!
Also "I Am The One & Only" ~ Chesney Hawkes...

Bookmarked
Fantastic find!

Yes, but any tracks imparticular? I'm not going to be able to get the album here tonight, but I can listen to some tracks if I know which ones you think are particularly good.
No matter, I'll look. Maybe I didn't read your post correctly, I don't know, I'm not going to re-read it now. Was just asking.
-
Surely just the 5 with the highest votes?
I think there's normally 5...
-
As it happens guys and galz, I'm still waiting for "Foxy Feedback" on The Cocteau Twins....(drums fingers impatiently)
Sorry b-f, I've not gotten round to it yet. Bit of a funny weekend.

One of my points, all along, has been that as Batman said a while ago, the selections were chosen because people showed interest in a particular album because they had heard of the artist or album before...but I thought MoC was all about getting the word out about things people hadn't heard, not how popular something was...
In the poll, I voted for what I hadn't heard of...and normally through the Amazon links, I don't buy it from there because it is the US site, but I read all the reviews linked to the album etc.
