  1. Algernon Cadwallader "horror"

    Cap'n Jazz "take on me"

    photo atlas

    and hot iqs

I could only find live Cap'n Jazz and Algernon, so the sound quality is low

I recommend going to the myspace.

But if one must be an internet elitist

well, no new tunes fo' you.

  2. Sirhan Sirhan probably didn't kill RFK

It was big news for like.... 12 hours

Real forensics and just practical thinking went into it.

It's not speculation like the JFK stuff

An audio recording records more shots being fired than sirhan sirhan's clip contained.

and the wound doesn't match up with the distance Sirhan Sirhan was

The wound does match where a secret service guy was tho

a guy who currently lives outside the country.

    I dunno

    It could be conspiratorial bs

    but on the other hand

the fact it was removed from the news so quickly

    without being rebutted

    makes me believe otherwise

  3. Here is a bunch of music no one will like

A buddy recently turned me on to what I will call 'Good Emo'

It's emo/hardcore without mindless screaming or corporate money grubbing

it has super bouncy/slidey mellow guitars

    and pretty decent vocals.

My Fave of those bands was

    Algernon Cadwallader

    http://www.myspace.com/algernoncadwallader

my fave song of there's is called 'horror' but it isn't on that page. Oh well, most of their stuff is pretty good

    Then here's Cap'n Jazz

a really influential band from the early nineties

they do a badass cover of 'take on me' that actually made me like take on me.

    http://www.myspace.com/capnjazz1

Now here are a couple colorado bands that are pretty good.

    This is the Photo Atlas

    they're from denver

    they do indy-emodancepop

    it's fun

    they're really awesome live.

They've managed to make a pretty good name for themselves

    http://www.myspace.com/danceatlasdance

Then there's the Hot IQs, probably my fave CO band

The guy sings with a Interpol-ish baritone

and has some pretty great lyrics

'specially for a band no ones heard of

    http://www.myspace.com/hotiqs

  4. and some more

    Grounded

Doctor's leaving for the holiday season

got crystal ice picks, no gift for the gab

and in the parking lot is a sedan he bought

he never, he never complains when it's hot

he phoned the foreign daughter in a sauna playing contract bridge

they're soaking up the fauna, doing blotters

    I don't know which...which...which...

boys are dying on these streets

I know the medical world could knock you out

to sell the coins that you jayed last Thursday

dine by candelight and hold your savings tight

you never, you never know when the bridge falls apart

we spoke of latent causes, sterile gauzes

    and the bedside morale

we traipse around the table talking sentences

    so incomplete... please! plea!

boys are dying on these streets

    Gold Soundz

go back to those gold soundz

and keep my advent to your self

    because it's nothing i don't like

is it a crisis or a boring change?

    when it's central, so essential,

it has a nice ring when you laugh

    at the low life opinions

and they're coming to the chorus now...

i keep my address to yourself 'cause we need secrets

we need secrets crets crets crets crets crets back right now

because i never wanna make you feel

    that you're social

    never ignorant soul

believe in what you wanna do

and do you think that is a major flaw

when they rise up in the falling rain

and if you stay around with your knuckles ground down

    the trial's over, weapon's found

keep my address to myself because it's secret

cuz it's secret cret cret cret [etc.]... back right now

so drunk in the august sun

and you're the kind of girl i like

because you're empty and i'm empty

and you can never quarantine the past

    did you remember in december

that i won''t eat you when i'm gone

and if i go there, i won't stay there

because i'm sitting here too long

i've been sitting here too long

    and i've been wasted

advocating that word for the last word

last words come up all you've got to waste

and the best country song ever

    Range Life

after the glow, the scene, the stage, the set

talk becomes slow but there's one thing i'll never forget:

hey, you gotta pay your dues before you pay the rent.

over the turnstile turn out in the traffic

there's ways of living it's the way i'm living

right or wrong, it's all that i can do,

and i wouldn't want to let you be

i want a range life, if i could settle down,

if i could settle down, then i would settle down

    [x2]

run from the pigs, the fuzz, the cops, the heat

pass me your gloves, there's crime and it's never complete

until you snort it up or shoot it down

    you're never gonna feel free

out on my skateboard the night is just hummin'

and the gum smacks are the pulse i'll follow if my walkman fades

but i've got absolutely no one, no one but myself to blame

don't worry- we're in no hurry

school's out, what did you expect?

i want a range life, if i could settle down,

if i could settle down, then i would settle down

    [x2]

out on tour with the smashing pumpkins

nature kids, i/they don't have no function

i don't understand what they mean

and i could really give a (bleep).

    the stone temple pilots,

    they're elegant bachelors

they're foxy to me are they foxy to you?

i will agree they deserve absolutely nothing

    nothing more than me

    dreamin' dream dream dream....

  5. In the Mouth of A Desert

    Pavement

can you treat it like an oil well

when it's underground, out of sight?

and if the sight is just a whore sign

can it make enough sense to me?

pretend the table is a trust knot

we'll put our labels down, favors down

i'll watch some yards of twine unravel

and you'll never get it back

    it's what i want (it's what i want)

it's what i want (twine comes down)

    it's what i want (it's what i want)

don't you know, i could make you try

    make you try [3x]

i've been crowned the king of it, and it is all we have

so wait to hear my words and they're diamond sharp

i can open it up and it's up and down

    it's what i want (it's what i want)

to see you beg like a little dog (ball of twine)

    don't you know that it's what i want (it's what i want)

i'll see you beg and it makes you dry

    makes you dry [3x]

i've been down, the king of it, it is all we have

i've been down and i could wait to hear the words

    they're diamond sharp today

  6. He's a great guitarist because of his intricate tunings and chord structures

and he plays with melody and harmony

rather than playing scale after scale to form a 'solo'

edit- so it's not quite something you can witness in a youtube video, but by grabbing some SY albums and listening to them, overandoverandoverandover

  7. Like BF said, Sonic Youth is the single most influential band in the modern era.

Formed in 79(or 80) depending on your source, they stared right a the end of the punk wave, and took every influence from yesterday and turned it into something new, fusing John Cage with Johnny Ramone.

    Excellent band.

    excellent excellentexcellent band

As a sidenote, Sonic Youth jumpstarted Nirvana's career, by inviting them to open on a series of shows for them. and continued to mentor Nirvana to the end.

also, they did the same for Pavement, which if you're into pavement, is pretty rad.

    And Thurston Moore=GeniusXabazillion.

Probably my fave guitarist of all time, he's not always playing the pretty notes, but he's playing 'em well.

To add to the list of things they might play, Probably a couple of their newest disc 'Rather Ripped' which is quite excellent- I'm almost 100% 'incinerate' will be played, and possibly 'do you believe in rapture' and maybe (slim) 'Reena'

Then look for 'Unmade Bed' from Sonic Nurse

and 'Schizophrenia' a great tune that they like to bust out live.

but it's hard to predict what SY will play, because that band has written 100s of hours of music.

  8. We're actually planning on a last.fm dealy-o the day we stared recording they announced they were gonna pay unsigned acts royalties

    .05 cents yes!!!!!!!!!!!

but we're using myspace as a launch point, cuz it's real trendy and easy to use it to prostitute yourself out.

I've never heard of mog, I'll have to check it out.

  9. Yeah totally DIY

and all we had for the instruments and vocals was one mic, a kind of general condenser guy- and if you guys know anything about recording, you know the studios use like 500 different kinds of microphones

and we had a generic low end drum mic kit, and that worked prety well.

yeah, we are pretty happy with how the recording is going.
