maybe she's so 'it' that it belongs to her.

oh blargh
the flobots blow so bad.
Have to listen to their stuff ALL THE TIME here.
-
The Ruttles
and 24 Hour Party should be required viewing for everyone on the planet
not just for the music aspect
it's just a great movie.
-
It isn't a review
this is an open discussion on the album
as it's excellent
and lots of stuff to it.
It deserves it's own thread.

Is 'In an Aeroplane Over the Sea'
So good, that it deserves a whole thread, dedicated to it.
In an Aeroplane over the Sea is essentially a solo effort by Jeff Mangum, he has a band (Neutral Milk) and they provide some backing for this album, but what stands out is Mangum's guitar and voice, and his lyrics.
the only girl I've ever loved
Was born with roses in her eyes
But then they buried her alive
One evening 1945
With just her sister at her side
And only weeks before the guns
All came and rained on everyone
Now she's a little boy in Spain
Playing pianos filled with flames
On empty rings around the sun
All sing to say my dream has come
Yeah, those are from the song 'Holland 1945"
which is excellent
So, instead of looking for audio clips
or watching youtube videos
go out, buy this album
listen to it
become the king of carrot flowers
and you won't be disappointed in this purchase
come'on it's like 10-15 bux for an american treasure.

Here are the lyrics to a song I wrote for the band a few months ago(longer probably)
It's over a indie-bluegrass psychobilly thing.
And mad props to Kurt Vonnegut.
If you should, find yourself
trapped inside a box
ya gotta
try yer hardest
not to sing
You may not know that
much about oxygen
but trust me
I Do!
God bless you Mr. Rosewater
a wealthy man
who wants nothin' more
than to be,
a fireman
God bless you Mr. Rosewater
Rockefeller
got
nothin
on you!
Road trip
thought I was
Hamlet
wrote a letter to Ophelia
to say I feel ya
do you still feel me?
SOLD ALL MY CLOTHES!
traded them for
firemen's clothes
God bless you Mr. Rosewater
a wealthy man
who wants nothin' more
than to be,
a fireman
God bless you Mr. Rosewater
Rockefeller
got
nothin
on you!
FIN
Yeah, it's just a cute little guy.

Throw in a couple of 'Christ is Lord' lines and you've got yourself a christian top 40 hit.
Leave the Christ is Lord stuff out, put in a few obtusely veiled references "This spirit brings me power" (really GWBUSH it up) and you have a potential Creed crossover smash.

I find a few tunes on definately maybe enjoyable
and Morning Glory quite listenable, and enjoyable (except champagne supernova... I like that song less and less every time I listen to it)
but everyhing after that
BLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAH
-
um, no not quite
I can't speak for anyone else under the age of forty
but I can speak for myself
No collectivism here
dig it?
and I thought the whole namahage/redfish/bluefish thing was incredibly obnoxious
I don't know if it was someone that legitimately dumb
or a simple troll.
But Kev, you're brining on the maliciousness in an equal amount
so stop playing saint
It's just
irritating.

I can name quite a few radiohead songs that totally rock actually.
I mean at the very least there's Paranoid Android and Airbag.
and Electioneering
Planet Telex
Hail to the Thief
Ideoteque

oh and no blues for this white boy
that's ridiculous
No blueshammer here.
-
we spoke of latent causes, sterile gauzes
and the bedside morale
we traipse around the table talking sentences
so incomplete... please! plea!
boys are dying on these streets...
A long life, hardly
wise, perhaps
It's odd
so many old folks enjoy the wisdom and sounds of those in their early twenties of long ago
but not those of the present.
Generation gap, dude.

staying up til four in the morning is homework for musicians
and part time jobs have a lovely habit of not starting til five pm.
I have scattershot lyrics to post for hours
lyrics that if read, really shed some light on the pointlessness of everything going on on the board right now.

I know the medical world could knock you out
to sell the coins that you jayed last Thursday
dine by candelight and hold your savings tight
you never, you never know when the bridge falls apart

he phoned the foreign daughter in a sauna playing contract bridge
they're soaking up the fauna, doing blotters
I don't know which...which...which...
boys are dying on these streets

and in the parking lot is a sedan he bought
he never, he never complains when it's hot

I shot your girlfriend

I'll be waitin' forever

The kaiser has a cyst
in the neck of the woods
we will drown you in the crick
in the neck of the woods
that was populated
by
tired nations so deprived

feelin' like a fixture
stuck in 1966

I am a cigar stand
and you are a lovely blue incandescent guillotine
-
cuz there's nothin'
I don't like
is it a crisis
or a boring change.
when it's central
so essential
It has a nice ring when you laugh
at the low-life
opinions.

soon you're being told to recognize your errors
no
not me
I'm an island of such great complexity
So you think your really it do you?

spelling werds wrong is part of artistik freedoms,
but generally for fonetik purpose.
going between your/you're is differnt, because they mean two completely different things
if one was to be clever and take a phrase that usually is 'you are' and change the you're to a your, to show possession, would be clever.
to just mindlessly misuse werds is a destruction of language, of intellect.
which, I suppose, if you're a troll, is an artistic goal, maybe that is the metapurpose of trolling.
intellectual anarchy
I hope it's worth it.
Mind you, Joyce was only 'permitted'
to write stream of consciousness
non-punctuated/capitalized prose
after
he had proven his capabilities in the accepted medium.
I guess we've come to a crossroads where we have to ask
are we all now free from structure
did the works of a group of post-modernists
free all of us
were they christ-writers?
or must each individual strive
and work
towards
the privilege
and
freedom to write however they wish
with full
'lyrical freedom'
