  1. I went to Monmouth Race Track yesterday and won a combined $300 on these two horses 1) Yes I'm Lucky 2) Sammy's Trip. I lost on a horse called Peaches but I'm not blaming her (totally). I had a few other winners yesterday too. Nice day at the track all around...including the Miller Coors beer tasting between each race...they have some beer and ale that I never even knew existed.

    Nice!

  2. Just for the record... are songs that feature a male singing part eligible? I'm not sure what the general ruling on that should be.

My opinion, though it wasn't asked for, would be primary vocals by only the female singer - that is how my Joan Jett nomination is listed at allmusic.com. - primary vocals, Joan Jett, and no other individual listing for vocals. I checked it out before nominating.

You're almost always going to have band members that are male, and possibly backup vocals. But I agree with Darryl, no duets, no featured male artist vocals, etc.

EDIT: Heads up, changed 1 nomination. Emmylou Harris switched out for ZZ Ward

  3. We ought to take the specials discussion over to the specials thread, to cut down clutter here, but also because there are ideas there. Specials are generally well received - and can draw players that get worn out with playing the regular weekly ten. Discuss, and get some new thoughts out there. ;)

    9. Turn The Page - Metallica (1998)

    10. Lookin' For a Love - J. Geils Band

I had to leave off a lot of songs ... also Ray - double Leon nominations. I left out Ain't Too Proud to Beg, only because I thought it would get the votes anyway .... Leon could use the love however, and those happen to 2 of my favorites. :stars:

  7. I have a question, it might be silly but I'm asking anyway ...

In the case of a singer/songwriter, in which the first version released was by someone other than the writer, for example, Take it Easy by both the Eagles, and Jackson Browne (writer, later release) .... which is the cover? The later release, even though he wrote the song? Sorry, but these things get technical - this has always confused me.

  8. 1. Race is On, The - George Jones (1964)

    2. Come Running - Van Morrison (1970)

    8. Down Down - Status Quo (1974)

    9. What Would You Say? - Dave Matthews Band (1994)

    10. Love Is Blue - Jeff Beck (1968)

  9. I'll check Darryl - though it would be easier if I knew which two songs. :D PT me and I'll walk you through how to search again. ;)

To be perfectly honest, we just didn't have enough time and/or manpower to keep up the archive well, and that was never my thing anyway. I'm not surprised by the errors, there could be more actually. I hope you can shape us up!
