That's ok. I'm a dork , too. Heck, I listen to the Czech news on the radio on my way to work. Don't ask me why. I guess I want to be ready if someone walks up and asks me what's going on in Prague this morning.

The Pointer Sisters did 'Fire', which Springsteen wrote. He released it later, I believe on his live album.
I don't know how big a hit it was for the P.S., but I recall hearing it on the radio a lot. I couldn't say where it charted without looking it up.

I think this might help fulfill my constant need to be the center of attention, a know-it-all, a smug overbearing Classic Rock fan and a writer with an unmatched love of his own opinion and prose.

You should make it a point to see it. For it's day, it covers a lot of very taboo subjects for the times. Marijuana, homosexuality, group sex (sorry folks, there's no delicate way to say that), alcoholism.
Plus, Ava Gardner is gorgeous.

Someone recommended this album a few lists ago. I seconded it then, and I'll second it now.
It is one of those classics that you know every song, whether you're a fan or not. Owned it on 8-track, album, tape a few times, and finally, cd.
Like I said before, the emotions were running high between the members of the band during the recording of this. And it comes through in the songs.

I suppose I should add a song fact with the image.
The only one I know, and I heard this from a DJ on a Philly radio station, is that this instrumental to so long to record, and went through so many different phases, takes and retakes, that somewhere during the process, someone in the studio said they had created a monster.
From then on, they referred to it as Frankenstein.
How factual that is, I couldn't say. I am just parroting what I heard a DJ say.
I will say this about the song: it's the earliest recording I know of with 'hammer ons' fret work. For those of you not familiar with it, it is the sound Eddie Van Halen gets during 'Eruption'. A lot of people think he was the first, but Frankenstein has it.

I hit paydirt with those compilations cds once at FYE. It was in the bargain bin, 10 bucks for a 5 cd set of '60's Sounds'.
I didn't even look at what was on the cds. 5 for 10 bucks, I was buying it.

I don't understand how they can charge 160.00 for a seat, when Fogherty and Mellencamp are charging 40.00 for the same seat.

It's not a solo, really, but the banjo at the end of the Eagle's version of Take It Easy is pretty cool.
