  1. Queen - One of the best bands of the 70's, gave in to 80's peer pressure (the pressure to make bad music). I like some eighties Queen, but much of it is bad.

    Guns n Roses - The band is one of the best, but I can't stand Axl's voice. He sounds so whiny and high pitched and annoying. He sounds like a screeching cat on the high notes, and on the low notes, he sounds as if he is kind of vomiting the words out of his mouth.

    :bow: I could have written this myself.

  2. Yes, but bands eveolve, and they may lose a certain percentage of their core of fans, but they also gain new ones.

    a perfect example of this is Aerosmith. I was with them in the 70's and the early 80's. Then, they changed. I can't stand anything they've done since 87 or so, but they still sell records. New sound, new generation, new fans.

  3. Hi Janet, and welcome back.

    The song you're referring to might be Led Zepplin's "Going to California"

    Spent my days with a woman unkind,

    Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.

    Made up my mind to make a new start,

    Going To California with an aching in my heart.

    Someone told me there's a girl out there

    With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.

    Took my chances on a big jet plane,

    Never let them tell you that they're all the same.

    The sea was red and the sky was grey,

    Wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.

    The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake

    As the children of the sun began to awake.

    Seems that the wrath of the Gods

    Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;

    I think I might be sinking.

    Throw me a line if I reach it in time

    I'll meet you up there where the path

    Runs straight and high.

    To find a queen without a king;

    They say she plays guitar and cries and sings.

    La la la la

    Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn

    Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born.

    Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,

    Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.

    hope that helps.

  4. Double Live Gonzo is a great cd. It is Ted in his prime.

    If you listen to 'Stormtroopin', he plays an entire part of the solo without ever using his pick hand. Just bending the string (one string) to get different notes, and sliding up and down the frets. A truly inventive solo.

    As far as this guy who thinks the "only reason Hendrix is considered the best is because he was the first good guitarist", you can't really come down on the guy because he is obviously ignorant when it comes to music, just like that other buffoon earlier in this thread.

    They've not had the pleasure of exploring music, so they are pigeon-holed into believing what they listen to is the best. And to them, maybe it is.

    I am willing to bet theses two guys are fairly young. They haven't looked around, or 'listened around'. Expanded their musical horizons.

    we are fortunate in the fact that the younger population here at SF are diverse in their musical tastes.

    Just as one example, ChrisWaters90125 appreciates Dave Gilmour's work, and recognizes it as the creative, beautiful work it is.

    I doubt these two 'speed is everything' guys even know who Dave Gilmour is. But is that their fault? No, they haven't looked around.

    I don't fault these two speed demons for their limited knowledge. I do, however, have a problem coming into our back yard and taking a dump, leaving their offal.

    Speed=Greatness. We covered that.

    Metallica is gay.

    Since when does being gay have anything to do with anything?

    Gentlemen, grow up. Or get out of our forum.
