MuzikTyme
OK guys, I'm in my soul mood today. I was just listening to LTD's Every Time I Turn Around (Back in Love Again) and was reminded of a song that sounds a lot like it but I don't think it's LTD and it's been ages since I heard it. I've now got the unknown earworm from hell. It's transforming into an earwig because it now has mandibles which have clamped my stirrups and anvil and will not let go. Lyrics are something like this: "Come on and get up, get down, get funky get loose x2. Whatcha come 'round here for? x2 Do ya wanna party? Do you wanna dance?..." Unusual but I'm not able to find it in a search. I only come up with lyrics by recent artists and this song was late '70's I'm pretty sure. What the heck is the name and artist? I don't think I have it in my collection and I hate not knowing something. If I didn't know better I would say it's LTD but I can't find it in their lyrics. Thanks in advance. _Annabelle_
It could be "Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose" by Teddy Pendergrass found on his 1978 album Life Is a Song Worth Singing. Though I had trouble finding definite lyrics these could be them: Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose say whatcha come out here for whatcha come out here for do ya wanna party, do ya wanna dance come on people, come on and get down down " " " " I come down here to party And party is what I'm gonna do I done worked hard both night and day And now it's time for me to shake it loose Took me an hour just to get here Do ya think I'm gonna stand up on the wall Gonna have myself a ball, do ya hear me Have myself a ball, come on yall Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose say whatcha come out here for whatcha come out here for do ya wanna party, do ya wanna dance come on people, come on and get down down " " " " floor is crowded full of people there's room enough for you and me I can geta chance to hold you in my arms And whisper something sweet in your ear When you're havin fun the time just slips away So let's make use of the moments that we share Lets act like we don't care do you hear me, Free like a bird in the air, come on people Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose say whatcha come out here for whatcha come out here for do ya wanna party, do ya wanna dance come on people, come on and get down down " " " " Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose (repeat)(adlib) Hope this helps . MuzikTyme
Annabelle, you hit the nail on the head. That's the one. Thanks. The earwig is gone and now it's just the nice wittle earworm.
_Annabelle_
Your welcome. I'm glad it helped.
MuzikTyme
It helped alright. Teddy Pendergrass has a very interesting biography. I never realized he started singing at churches at such an early age and also became an ordained minister at the age of ten. I've always loved his voice and was saddened by the accident which left him paralyzed from the waist down in '82. Thanks again. Oh, if anyone is familiar with LTD's song and this one, sing them both in your head and you will find that both beats match seamlessly. Kinda like Ghostbusters and Wanna New Drug or the way one can sing Amazing Grace's lyrics to the tune of Gilligan's Island. ::
