Geddy Lee's bass line in YYZ is pretty kick a$$ too...
-
Did Jim Carey tone down his usual, "over the top" acting style? It gets old pretty quickly...

I'll agree, for the most part, but 'The Real Me' is far more aggresive, even though there's no actual 'bass solo', per se, the entire song is John's finest, IMO. Pure Rock and Roll.
I was going to put "The Real Me" down as my favorite solo, but then I thought that there was really no solo. Pete put it best when he said John played "lead bass." "The Real Me" is one of my favorite songs on my all time favorite Who album, Quadrophenia.

He used to play with The Whew.
-
John Entwhistle has always been my favorite bassist. The bass solo in "My Generation" always pops to mind first when asked about great bass solos...

I stand corrected ::

Is that not the band Timmy from "South Park" was in?

The first dance at my wife and my wedding was "Little Trip To Heaven" by Tom Waits. It is "our song."
Little Trip to Heaven
Little trip to heaven on the wings of your love
Banana moon is shining in the sky
I feel like I'm in heaven when you're with me
I know that I'm in heaven when you smile
Though were stuck here on the ground
I got something that I've found, and it's you
I don't need to take no trip to outer space
All I have to do is look in your face
And before I know it I'm in orbit around you
Thanking my lucky stars that I found you
When I see your constellation, you're my inspiration
And it's you
You're my North Star when I'm lost and feeling blue
You're my sun that's breaking through, it's true
And all the other stars seem dim around you
I thank my lucky stars that I found you
When I see your smilin face
I know nothing' gonna take your place
And it's you, and it's you, and it's you, and it's you, and it's you, and it's you...

It is good to see new people in Songfacts. Welcome!! I am sure many thoughts that may pop up in your heads have been covered already, so it may be worth doing a search on your topic....
As for TWOZ and DSOTM, check this out:

I continue to be shocked and saddened by the magnatude of this disaster. So many people will never be the same, but they are the lucky ones, as they are still alive. I know Songfacts has users world wide, and there is a very real possibility some of us may know people who have been personally effected by this event. I just wanted to give my condolences and a prayer.
This will be one of those history making events in which you will be asked, "Where where you when..."

Looks like Ronnie Van Sant or Che Guevara....

Elvis Costello
Pete Townshend
Tom Waits
Neil Young

The "straight edge" punk band Minor Threat also recorded it in 1981. A very fast version.

You really should keep your Yen inside, so as not to damage your roof. And as far as Edna goes, it's a beauty mark , not a mole.
Ken, (I call you Ken because it amuses me)I think it is time to alert Oliver Stone as to your findings...or put another layer on the ol' tin foil hat...

Things getting a little stressful over there in Tokyo, Kevin?
