A song that empowers me is 'Baba O'Reily' by The Who. Roger Daltrey has a really awe-inspiring voice, kinda makes you wanna really get into it.

Today, 26th January is Australia Day!!
Australia is celebrating its 217th birthday. Australia was settled by the Europeans. As a colony of the Commonwealth, Australia was used as a convict island, and convicts from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were brought to Australia to serve their sentences. These criminals and petty crooks formed the basis of this great country which keeps up a fine tradition of multiculturalism and immigration.
Happy Birthday Australia!!

Johnny Ramone and Ace Frehley ROCK. I suppose I would have to add Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page too. :guitar:

I have The Kinks, The Hollies, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Ramones, Marilyn Manson and The Zombies.

'53rd & 3rd' by The Ramones is widely rumoured to be about Dee Dee Ramone's younger days as a hustler on that particular street corner in New York. The song even talks about Dee Dee turning tricks to make enough money to live on (oh and for his drugs). Dee Dee never openly spoke about the meaning of this song, preferring to leave the past in the past.
It is surprising to find out that this song is so heavy with issues, as it is an upbeat song that is really good for a sing-a-long.

But did you fellas know that heavy men are light on their feet? They are the best dance partners.

How about 'Love On The Rocks With No Ice' by The Darkness!!!

yeah, I looked for it here in Australia, but couldn't find it. Hopefully it finds its way out here!!

sorry, I am getting my Bobby's confused!! A Bobby Darin impersonator sang 'Mack The Knife' on Stars In Their Eyes. He won the competition too.
Of course Bobby Vee sang 'The Night Has A Thousand Eyes'. I believe that Gene Pitney may have sung it too.
-
They show repeats of the British tv show 'Stars In Their Eyes' on pay tv here in Australia (where contestants impersonate famous musicians) and this one guy was impersonating Bobby Darin. He sung 'The Night Has A Thousand Eyes' and he was really really good. Since then I have liked the real Bobby Darin and agree with what you say about his voice. I haven't seen any clips of this movie, but I will be sure to look out for it!

I always liked 'Got The Life' by Korn, and I really like the cover of 'Word Up' that they have done recently.

'Rock Your Baby' by George McCrae
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
There's nothin' to it
Just say you wanna do it
Open up your heart
And let the lovin' start
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
Yeah, hold me tight
With all your might
Now let your lovin' flow
Real sweet and slow
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
C'mon...
Aaaaaaah woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
Oo, oo, oo
Woman, take me in your arms
Rock your baby
Ah-aaaaaah, yeah
Take me in your arms and rock me
Ah-aaaaaah, yeah
Take me in your arms and rock me
Ah-aaaaaaaaaaaah
How awfully cheesy. So cheesy in fact, I can smell cheddar from here.

All Along The Watchtower
There must be some kind of way outta here
said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion...
I can't get no relief
Business men they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
No one will level on the line,
Nobody of it is worth
hey, hey
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But, uh...but you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us stop talkin' falsely now
The hour's getting late, hey
All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants, too
Outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl
Bob Dylan :guitar:

yeah, I can't believe that Mike didn't get that one first!!

What about 'Another Brick In The Wall' by Pink Floyd?
We don't need no education.
We don't need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Teacher, leave those kids alone.
Hey, Teacher, leave those kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
AND 'Rock n' Roll High School' by The Ramones:
Well I don?t care about history.
(Rock, rock, rock?n?roll high school)
?cause that?s not where I wanna be
(Rock, rock, rock?n?roll high school)
I just wanna have some kicks.
I just wanna get some chicks.
Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock?n?roll high school
Well the girls out there knock me out, you know.
(Rock, rock, rock?n?roll high school)
Cruisin? around in my GTO
(Rock, rock, rock?n?roll high school)
I hate the teachers and the principal.
Don?t wanna be taught to be no fool.
Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock?n?roll high school
Fun fun rock?n?roll highschool.
Fun fun, oh baby.

I believe that in the movie the words used were "gobble gobble". The Ramones went to see 'Freaks' at an art-house cinema on a rare day off. This is where the inspiration for this song came from.

"Gabba gabba we accept you, we accept you, one of us"
- Pinhead, The Ramones

Pony by Kasey Chambers.
".....When I grow up I want a cowboy
With dust all over his jeans
With a horse named Jack
And a ten-gallon hat
He is nice but looks so mean....."
What rock band had or has the best vocals?

For smooth, soul-wrenching harmonies, then you can't go past The Beatles, The Eagles, The Zombies, Marc Bolan of T-Rex, Freddie Mercury of Queen, Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane and The Beach Boys. But for a more rough and rocky style of vocals, I reckon Joey & Dee Dee Ramone of The Ramones, James Hetfield of Metallica, Paul Stanley of KISS, Jim Morrison from the Doors, Robert Plant of Led Zep, Roger Daltrey of The Who, Bob Seger and Bruce Springsteen. David Bowie is probably halfway between both categories.
