  1. I have recently been studying up on this great composer’s work lately, quite frankly it is his great work that has me so deeply endeared to the films he has scored such as Jaws, Star Wars, Indian Jones, and Jurassic Park to name just a few big ones. You might be surprised to know that he is the second most nominated person in Academy Awards history with 49 behind Walt Disney's 59. Forty-four of Williams' Oscar nominations are for Best Original Score and five are for Best Original Song. He won four Oscars for Best Original Score and one for Best Scoring: Adaptation and Original Song Score (Fiddler on the Roof). So you may or may not know of him, you can enter his name in a youtube search and spend hours upon hours immersed in his splendorous arrangements. John just celebrated his 83rd birthday last month.
  2. The winning name is in an envelope. As a child of four can plainly see, this envelopes has been hermetically sealed. It's been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnall's back porch since noon yesterday. No one knows the contents of this envelope. Not even me.
  3. Okay, so I've seen Boyhood, it is truly an amazing film, never seen anything like it before, most likely will never see anything like it again (in my lifetime), is it oscar worthy? well, if anything is, it qualifies on a number of levels IMHO. It's my pick. But Birdman will probably win though. 4. Congrats to the Pats! I'm so thankful for such a great team, we played so hard this year, had a fantastic season, can't wait for next season and watch them play again!! #gohawks #whatsnext
  5. The NFL announced Friday that John Legend will perform "America the Beautiful" before Super Bowl XLIX at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. It will air on NBC. Menzel has had a top-notch year, thanks to the success of "Frozen" and her worldwide hit, "Let It Go." Her Broadway show "If/Then" closes on March 22. Legend, too, has had a career-highlighting year. His song "All of Me" was one of 2014's biggest hits, and he recently won a Golden Globe for his song with rapper Common, "Glory," from the film "Selma." © 2015 ABC News Internet Ventures. 7. okay, it's just another random topic in a random forum, how non-random is that? just thought it would make a good nostalgia thread, i often get nostalgic, and now that i'm getting really old, I find I have more nostalgia than ever before. there will be way better posts than this one in this thread as soon as anyone replies to it. but here goes mine just saw that Rod Taylor died, he was the George Wells the time traveler in the 1960 film The Time Machine. i was just watching this film a few days ago on TV, I spotted Alan Young in the film and he looked familiar, he played Wilbur on Mr. Ed, he's still alive.. at 95
  8. many, many great ones, I grew up listing to classical and the moody blues, many different instruments and arrangements, my ears felt "stimulated" along with my mind and even to an extent my body. good vibrations will do that. -just had this earworm emerge from my memory today, had to pull it out and give her play .. my idea of an eargasmic tune, listen to the arrangements, the instruments, you just can't help but come to the simultaneous conclusion
  9. First the "WE'LL TAKE IT FROM HERE PICK-SIX"!! Then the outright DENIAL OF ENTRY PLAY!! FINALLY VICTORY AND SECOND CONSECUTIVE NFC WEST CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

  11. In all the celebration ... we almost forgot.. Russell Wilson (our QB) stands all alone at the top with the most wins (34) in the first 3 seasons of the NFL (by a QB) since the Super Bowl era (1966) and we have two more games.

The Seahawks were the first team with at least at least 350 rushing yards and five touchdowns since the Bills did in in that 1978 game vs. the Giants.
