  1. Stone Roses? Outros? I never thought of that. I Wanna Be Adored has a brilliant intro (it was the one that made me sit up and listen to the band in the first place) but I never focussed on their outros (which must be awesome, since they are awesome  )

I'm thinking of Where Angels Play, I'm Standing Here, and of course I Am The Resurrection(actually, the only par of Resrrection I like is the extended instrumental outro). Love that band! Maybe they were only great for about a year, but what a year it was.

  2. Of course I disagree about Prog, which I consider Satan's Musak ;-) Among masters of the outro I would have Lou Reed and VU up top. Stone Roses should be there too. The thing I love about these acts is that just when you think that this great song is coming to a predictable but fine close, they pull out a brand new, but entirely sympathetic, section... a true "coda", that lifts the song to a higher plane altogether.

Layla is another obvious example of the coda, and it is surely the first song that springs to my mind when we are talking outros.

    See ya,

  4. On the album The Who Sell Out, there is the song: Heinz Baked Beans.

Well, that's basically the premise of the whole album, ie it's pretending to be about 40 minutes of 60s commercial radio. My personal fave is "Odorono", which is also a great song, as well as being sweet, funny and cruel.

  10. huh??? :stars:

Those are lyrics from a very famous track ... just not the one you named. The correct answer is Sail On by the Commodores.

But since I'm too lazy to think up a new lyric anyway, I'll still have the next person guess your lyric.

Hey. looks like I was answering a question from back on Page 1. Sorry!!!

But anyway, yes, let's go with:

    I've had relations

    With girls from many nations

    I've made passes

    At women who wear glasses

    And just because you're gay

    I won't turn you away

Safe sex doesn;t mean no sex

It just means use your imagination

    Thanks!!

    Lee.

  11. I don't see the 50/50 idea working, as all the lesser-known artists will get swamped by the well-known artists, and come nowhere in the voting.

btw, there's at least one of the world's most successful and famous acts of all time still not represented in the TT list. I nominated them in my PTT.. I'm trying to remember if they made it into the ten...

Plus, I imagine that there are a squillion one-hit wonders still not there. All we need is a push to help us recall them all. That my theory anyway ;-)

  12. I think maybe it should be "blazing" instead of "lazing", but I'm not sure... I'll have to go and have a listen. These are hard-to-notice lyrics from a very famous track...

Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkel.
