Malcolm Macdowell, as far as I know
Malcom Macdowell?:
If
O Lucky Man
A Clockwork Orange
Caligula
...and a Star Trek movie!!
You're a bit cruel, I reckon. More correct to say that Malcolm is one of those who was a big star as a young man, but never realy kicked on as a mature actor.

Mark Lee - Gallipoli
and his US counterpart...
Mark Hamill - Star Wars trilogy. I know that's three movies, but I think it's in the spirit of the question.

Because - the Beatles
How Come? - the Sports

There are some artists who specialise in spoken songs. My favourites include:
King Missile (Detachable Penis, Jesus Was Way Cool, etc)
William Shatner... lots of stuff over lots of years.
And let's not forget:
Losing My Edge - LCD Soundsystem
Here they all are for your listening pleasure:

Lee , do you want an episode name ?
You and me, we are on the same wavelength. "What's Opera, Doc?" for me...

Elmer.
Now (this is what I really wanted) your favourite Looney Tunes cartoon.

1. Close To You - The Carpenters
2. Walk On By - Dionne Warwick
3. I Say A Little Prayer For You - Aretha Franklin
4. Whole Lot Of Shakin' Going On - Jerry Lee Lewis
5. With A Girl Like You - The Troggs
6. What A Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers
7. If You Leave Me Now - Chicago
8. A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You - The Monkees
9. By The Time I Get To Phoenix - Glen Campbell
10.Hooked On A Feeling - Blue Swede
Very nice, Darryl. I know all of these well. It looks like you're fond of Dionne... so am I. In fact, I prefer her version of "Say a Little Prayer" to Aretha's. Possibly because Dionne sings the chorus herself instead of letting her backing singers do all the work ;-)
See ya,

Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen - Baz Luhrmann
That's my bet. It's the last song on that playlist.

Andmoreagain - Love (1967)
And here's a group that I really should have nominated last week. I think that this song is ample proof that this was indeed a great band. Seems criminal that they aren't yet in the list:
The Winner Takes It All - ABBA (1980)

Honorable Mention: By The Time I Get To Phoenix - Glen Campbell - This song is a well played anthem where I live.
Ooh, that would be a pretty depressing anthem. A great song, but...

Sorry - I think Ledbloodyzeppelin are boring.
Their songs are too long and I doze. I wake up a bit in the Jimmy Page solos.
Well, this is basically the point, ie that the Beatles and the Stones are pretty non-controversial at 1 and 2, while beyond that there will be much discussion ;-)

I still think Led Zeppelin is #3.
I would certainly agree with you there. Then the choices become more difficult...

Seven songs by the Beatles/Beatles solo/Stones?
There are other good bands and artists in the world too, you know?
Yes, but for some (many?) of us, these two bands are simply head and shoulders above all the rest. Here I am approaching a million years old, and I'm still absolutely in awe of the Beatles and the Stones. I suspect that there was something supernatural happening ;-)

When The Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin
Ever Fallen In Love With Someone You Shouldn've Fallen In Love With? - Buzzcocks

My Wife - The Who
How Deep Is YOur Love? - Bee Gees

Firefly

the Beatles are first and last on the list.
... the alpha and the omega.

... since it hit #11 Tom Sawyer will eventually make it in.
Not if I can prevent it! Mwahhh haa haa!!!
To be a little more serious... those are some fantastic players, but I think that their obvious talents are being squandered. I'd like to hear them working with an equally great singer and songwriter. That would really be something.
Lee.

That's a sweet thing. It's not quite West End Blues, and it's not quite Folsom Prison, but it looked like fun. 8/10.
