Red hot chili peppers are, nowadays, one of the only band making the music by random jam sessions. Their rock isn't about the virtuosity and musical skills, it's about their talent of composition and songwriting.
Sorry Ray, I like AC/DC alot, but you'll have to fight a little more

Summer's coming up, somehow, and that's automatically link to music festivals to me
the biggest festival in our little Belgium is Rock Werchter, having international fame.
Check out the line up for this year, with not even ALL names released!

Paranoid Android - Radiohead (1997)
Another Radiohead nomination, it's a masterpiece, there's so much energy and emotion in it.
The world is mine - Hooverphonic (2002)
An example of Belgian musical pride you should listen to. A drummer, A bass guitarist and A female singer, feeling happy on top of the world.

one of the dedication songs form the chilis:
Venice queen - Red hot chili peppers
about Gloria scott, who tought Anthony (singer) alot about life and helped him of his drug addiction.
normally I'm not that much of a Blink fan, but:
All the small things - Blink182
written by the guitarist of the group for his girlfriend.
I'd like to change the blink182 song, a better one came to my mind
Shine on You crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd A part of it (live)
about Syd Barrett, their formal band member who unfortunately suffered 'Brain damage'.

bands that actually make and play their own music (not like pussycat dolls or something )

Viaene,
My sister e-mailed me with a tip for when you have a persistent cough. Now, not sure if it works, but it might be worth a try: slather Vick's VaporRub on your feet when you go to bed (wear socks)-it's supposed to work like a charm...
I might try that someday
I also heard alcohol makes you feel better (but that's only temporary I guess. I should ask rayzor about this )
