Since this isn't exactly international news, I'll post this here:
Today, Powderfinger announced they would be disbanding (for good this time, not just a hiatus), and they will be doing a farewell tour of Australia in September/October, supported by Jet. I will be in Munich for Oktoberfest during the Perth concert, so I have very mixed feelings at the moment.

Genesis are the perfect example of this. They are one of my favourite bands, yet I don't particularly like any of their twenty or so hit singles.

Breaking Up - Eskimo Joe (fortunately they aren't breaking up... yet)

Australia is equal 15th with 1 gold and 1 silver. Pretty good for a country with minimal snow.

This next song I've posted before but as far as I'm concerned, he's the greatest guitar player that I know of (living) . . . Classical Gas ~ Tommy Emmanuel
I saw Tommy Emmanuel with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra at the Perth Concert Hall about ten years ago. I don't remember it very well, but I remember it was an excellent concert, and Classical Gas was probably the highlight.

The style of slide guitar playing in prog rock is very different from blues. Nevertheless, I love Steve Howe's slide guitar work.

Terribly sorry about the lateness. I've been sick. No, really, I have (not that that makes it a good excuse or anything).

Count me in!

My favorite part of this is trying to guess which artist each one is. I've gotten them all, but only by one or two easily identifiable songs.
Same. I'm disappointed in myself for having to google BlueAngel's, but I got the rest pretty easily.

I like prog rock but not prog metal (especially Tool). Which isn't really that surprising, since they are actually quite different.
Every prog rock band I know has at least one song that I really like. However there are some that I find too inconsistent in quality, namely ELP and Rush.

Good to see that #200 is one of the best Top Tens I've seen in a while. Cing Krimson!

This advertisement was recently pulled from Australian TV for being too racist. Which is odd, because no aspect of this ad is considered racial stereotyping in Australia, and it was only pulled after it became popular on YouTube and people from other countries (particularly USA) found it offensive.

^ Yeah, it's Ramble On from Led Zeppelin II. Led Zeppelin recorded a few songs that were influenced by LotR, but I think Ramble On is the only one that has really obvious references.

It's as if you are reading my mind. I can hardly think of two interviews I would like to see more than Ian Anderson and the Shulman brothers, and now you have done both. Thank you.
This gives me a great excuse to listen to Octopus again.
