Ian Haug and Darren Middleton

a thread I just saw in another forum:
"If there would be such a thing as music without any lyrics - do you think anybody would listen to it?"
-
I'll nominate Ian Anderson.
Good. Now no one will complain about me nominating Jethro Tull in every single special top ten.
I'll think hard about my nominations - I don't want to regret not nominating someone.
-
I've noticed there are quite a few musicians I like that are celebrating a birthday today, so I've decided to compile some videos to celebrate. In chronological order:
Edvard Grieg (if he was still alive)
Harry Nilsson (ditto)
Demis Roussos (Don't worry, it's not from his solo career).
And a few others that I won't post videos for (ESPECIALLY not Russell Hitchcock from Air Supply).

well black eyed peas aren't in the Top 100 Worst songs of all time
^ Not a very good list if you ask me. Generally when such a list is compiled by only one person I just ignore it.
-
This is just about my favourite #1 we've ever had in these top tens. Excellent list.
-
Don't know if Greg Lake has been mentioned or not but in his prime he had a beautiful singing voice.
Look at the first ten or so posts on the first page.
-
Die Ärzte do make some pretty good 30 second songs, don't they.
Also, F# A# infinity is named as such because the first and second tracks end with F# and A#, and the final track on the LP version ends with an infinite loop. I guess naming songs and albums after chords isn't that rare.
-
Just heard it for the first time. My Humps remains my least favourite song of all time, but Boom Boom Pow is certainly a strong contender for my top ten least favourite songs of all time.
-
No way!!!
Wow! I am impressed!
I got it first try too.
But they make it much harder after the first try, giving you less dark green dots each time.
-
^ I'm amazed neither of the above two people mentioned Paranoid Android by Radiohead.
Two of my favourite songs of all time fit in that catergory - Love Your Way by Powderfinger and Minstrel In The Gallery by Jethro Tull.
Also:
Over The Hills And Far Away - Led Zeppelin
The Musical Box - Genesis
Behind Blue Eyes - The Who
And, for some really long songs that sort of fit that category:
Supper's Ready - Genesis
Thick As A Brick - Jethro Tull
-
1. Bloody Well Right - Supertramp (1974) (This is my favourite Supertramp song, and Teacher is only about my 15th favourite Jethro Tull song, so I had to give this #1).
2. Teacher - Jethro Tull (1970)
3. Praise You - Fatboy Slim (1999)
4. O Superman (For Massenet) - Laurie Anderson (1981)
5. Personal Things - The Triffids (1986)
6. Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins (1993)
7. Abacab - Genesis (1981) (I generally like songs that are named after the chord progression. The only other one I know is DAF by Powderfinger. )
8. Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis (2006)
9. Distance, The - Cake (1996)
10. Miles Beyond - Mahavishnu Orchestra (1973)
That was a hard one.
-
O Superman (For Massenet) - Laurie Anderson (1981)
Miles Beyond - Mahavishnu Orchestra (1973) (No prizes for guessing who wrote this instrumental).

I mean, how many albums can you say the closer is the best song on there?
I didn't notice this question before.
The first ones that spring to mind for me are Who's Next, Foxtrot by Genesis and Brain Salad Surgery by ELP. I imagine about 90% of people disagree with me on this, but I also think Siberian Khatru (the closer) is the best track on Close To The Edge by Yes. But I disagree with Led Zeppelin 4.

Good to hear that you are feeling better today Darryl.
I have previously skipped Top Tens simply because I hadn't heard enough songs and didn't have enough time or simply didn't feel like listening to the other nominations, so I couldn't blame you for doing the same. Just do whatever you are comfortable with.

I saw the end of the USA game against Honduras. I believe it was Donovan that made a really ballsy header to win the game. USA! USA! USA!
Pity USA lost to Costa Rica a few days ago. Oh well, unless they lose most of their remaining games, USA should qualify. Good stuff.
I'm not sure what's happened to Mexico - they beat Costa Rica 2-0, but lost every other game. They'll struggle to qualify from here.
-
now if only the match against Italy would have been different
Don't remind me. Though I remember what happened to Germany in the 2006 World Cup was similarly disappointing.
I guess there is one thing us Australians can be happy about. Now that we are in the Asian group, qualification for the World Cup is much easier for us.
-
(I'm sorry" the guy from "Focus")
Jan Akkerman. Have to agree with that.
-
AUSTRALIA ARE OFF TO THE WORLD CUP!
In 2006 they qualified with a thrilling penalty shootout against Uruguay. This year they qualified with a boring 0-0 draw with Qatar.
-
I find it more unreal that Genesis still haven't made the top ten.
Perhaps I should nominate something from before Phil Collins was even in the band. But then nobody would have heard of it - their first two albums weren't exactly very successful.
