I finally got around to completing:
Powderfinger's "Oi" Song Trilogy
The songs were released on three different albums spanning over four years, but they go really well together, which is why I have put them all in one playlist.
-
^ Because it isn't the best 7 minute plus Led Zeppelin song. Then again, neither is WTLB.
-
I'll ask her next time I see her.
The next poster is drinking coffee.
-
Bitch, Brown Sugar, Dead Flowers. Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Moonlight Mile, Sway, Wild Horses and Sister Morphine.
Left: You Got To Move and I Got The BLues.
Lea, after you nominate -and watch it make the Top - your Stones song next week, I´d love to nominate I Got The Blues...
And Who's Next only has My Wife left. I'll be interested to see which album wins the "race". I'll admit that a 9 or 10 track album making it into the top ten is more impressive than a 2 track album with only one song.

Please be on time in the future.
Time for Mindcrime. Rhyme time? Sublime!
-
Nah, just me.
The next poster is listening to a song from the 00s right now.
-
That is really sad, especially since I am listening to Karn Evil 9 Second Impression right now.

1. Knights of Cydonia - Muse (2006)
2. Crazy - Gnarls Barkley (2006)
3. Hey Ya! - OutKast (2003)
4. Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet (2003)
5. Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes (2003)
6. Times Like These - Foo Fighters (2002)
7. Seed (2.0), The - The Roots (2002)
8. Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand (2004)
9. No One Knows - Queens of the Stone Age (2002)
10. White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes (2008)
At least I've proven to myself that I can make a list of excellent 00s music without including Powderfinger.
-
I struggle to think of anyone whose voice has coped better with smoking than Greg Lake's. Ian Anderson sounds terrible now, and I worship him like a God (well, not really, but almost), so for me to say that...
-
By the way, someone said that Us and Them hadn't made the ten yet. It's one of my favorites and would get a definate high vote from me.
That was also me.
I think it has a pretty good chance of making #1 whenever it is nominated.
-
I was kinda surprised you didn't give ELP a vote. I figured it would get at least 2 votes. But alas... We may well be their biggest fans here on SF
Take A Pebble would have been in my Top 20 for this list. Tarkus and Karn Evil 9 are still my favourite ELP songs by a pretty long way.
-
^ The Fleet Foxes are great - I'd say Tiger Mountain Peasant Song is my favourite song of theirs. And you can update your Top Ten any time you want, just do it in another post.
-
The Cure at #1!
Pink Floyd!
Sticky Fingers and Who's Next get their eighth TT entrants!
CCR!
Two great 00s songs!
Genesis and Nick Cave make the TT for the first time!
[biggest]THICK AS A BRICK!!![/biggest]
Yeah, I guess I'm pretty happy with the results.
-
It's hard to imagine anyone having more of an influence on music over the past 50 years than Les Paul. RIP.
-
1. Thick As A Brick - Jethro Tull (1972)
2. Bargain - The Who (1971)
3. Mercy Seat, The - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (1988)
4. It's My Life - Bon Jovi (2000)
5. Mr. Cab Driver - Lenny Kravitz (1989)
6. Sister Morphine - The Rolling Stones (1971)
7. 10 A.M. Automatic - The Black Keys (2004)
8. Four Winds - Bright Eyes (2007)
9. Friday I'm In Love - The Cure (1992) (I definitely like this song more now since seeing this).
10. Chicken Train - Ozark Mountain Daredevils (1973)
Tough list, this one really deserves a top 20.
-
Knights Of Cydonia - Muse (2006)
Times Like These - Foo Fighters (2002)
Both uploaded by the bands' official channels in ultra-low quality, unfortunately.
-
Thick As A Brick - Jethro Tull (1972) (live at Madison Square Garden 1978)
And, for those who are willing to set aside precisely 43 minutes and 50 seconds of their day to listen to the greatest album of all time:
Thick As A Brick (the whole album on one track)
Yes, those are my nominations for this week. Though I don't know how well The Who will handle the votesplitting.
-
Who's Next has 7 out of 9 - I bet that will be the first album to have all songs in the top ten (except maybe Thick As A Brick). I'd vote for both My Wife and Bargain highly.
-
Sticky Fingers has 7 out of 10... I think that's more songs than any other studio album has in the top ten.
-
Goodbye to Yellow Brick Road shouldn't have many missing either
By my count it has 11 tracks missing.
-
DSOTM still has a fair way to go. Us And Them hasn't even made it in yet!
-
This brings me to a question for the TT statistics lovers: are there complete albums in the TT archives?
I think Led Zeppelin IV has 6 out of 8 in the Top Ten, so that is pretty close.
Thick As A Brick almost made it in about 2 years ago, and that has only one song on the album.
-
Fine, let's call it a draw.
(I wanted to say "'Tis but a scratch" somewhere before that, but I couldn't think of how to fit it in).
-
I couldn't help but give it a second go. 7:36:22.5 with 24 deaths.

^ You nominated it in TT #45 back in January 2007. It got 27 points.
