Does anyone here like Nico? I was having a discussion about her with my boyfriend and he really likes her and I just can't stand the way she sings. I like the Velvet Underground without her and I don't like her solo stuff at all. Any thoughts?

Paul - Maybe I'm Amazed
George - All Things Must Pass
John - Aisumasen (I'm Sorry) the home version
Ringo - Back Off Boogaloo

For some reason I have pretty much everything but never seem to have bought Beatles for Sale and Help!
I don't plan on getting the Capitol set, I've got most of the American versions on record and I don't have those red and blue sets on cd but probably won't get them. I've got the blue one on record, anyhow. I really want to start getting nice versions of the original records now but I'm broke, lol! I picked up all my Beatles records at flea markets for under $5 and most are pretty bad.

I recently purchased the Sun Records box set. Great stuff. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins,Johnny Cash, BB King, and many more, when they were just kids. It's a good buy.
I've got to check that out. My obsession lately has been all that early rock and roll, r&b, blues, rockabilly type stuff.

It's so hard to decide! The first seven are definitely my favorites forever but the rest change all the time.

With A Little Help From My Friends
Lovely Rita

Anyone here ever watch Freaks and Geeks? I was so sad when they took that off the air.

I think Terry Reid is really underrated. I hadn't even heard of him until about a year ago but I'm glad I found out who is. He can take folk, funk, rock, jazz, and mix it all up into some great songs.
-
I didn't even realize there was an old thread on the same topic, lol - sorry about that - that was way before my time here.

My favorite is the Golden Girls theme song.
Check out the original by Andrew Gold. It's better than the one on the show.

I like "I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders:
Oh, why you look so sad?
Tears are in your eyes
Come on and come to me now
Don’t be ashamed to cry
Let me see you through
’cause I’ve seen the dark side too
When the night falls on you
You don’t know what to do
Nothing you confess
Could make me love you less
I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
So if you’re mad, get mad
Don’t hold it all inside
Come on and talk to me now
Hey, what you got to hide?
I get angry too
Well I’m a lot like you
When you’re standing at the crossroads
And don’t know which path to choose
Let me come along
’cause even if you’re wrong
I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I’ll never desert you
I’ll stand by you
And when...
When the night falls on you, baby
You’re feeling all alone
You won’t be on your own
I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I’ll never desert you
I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you

And check out Neil Young, The Allman Brothers, Steely Dan, and Cream.

Right now I'm reading The Beatles by Bob Spitz and I'm in the part where the boys are still in school. I'm a bit confused by how the education system works in England. It appears to be different than it is here in the States. It seems like students must pass tests to move on to each level and they don't have to go as long as we do here. I was hoping someone might explain it to me in more detail. Also, is it still the same today as it was in the Beatles' youth?
Thanks

I think Chest Fever and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down by The Band are best heard live on Rock of Ages. The horn section adds so much.
