  1. The Classic CKLW Page! This page remembers the Big 8, CKLW (Windsor/Detroit) - one of the top radio stations in the world in the 1960's and 1970's.

I think the reason most people here in the states say Detroit is due to the Windsor/Detroit saying and I remember it being said that way on the radio. Guess we just thought of Detroit first, funny we did that though.

  2. I loved it when he called her cupcake. He still looks like a nasty porn star to me (and not in the good way), but he does make me laugh.

    I'd do him.

Peaches girl...you make me laugh! I feel the same way about Sawyer....he seems nasty and has that dirty quality about him...bring him on over!! Bad boys...gotta love 'em!!

  3. I wonder...I love my small town...feel safe and good for kids...but this is too much!! I guess because they aren't the "typical" middle class they are different. I so want to protest this, and if things go farther, believe me I will be there defending these nice people and their store!

  4. Ok I have to vent...has to be done!! Last week here at the station we had an idea to have Rocky Horror Picture Show do a midnight showing at the local theatre...well the owener nixed saying he tried that idea a few years back and a lot of townspeople were offended...called it evil and soft porn??? PLEASE!! Ok the town I live in about 20 miles from the station is a little smaller and now they are back in the dark ages also. A new store opened in downtown and it is a couple from California and they are selling beads, tye-dyed clothes, vintage hippie clothes, candles, hand made jewelry, stuff like that...well a high school girl and her friends went in and she got spooked...she said it was scary and seemed devilish??? So now local ministers are trying to shut it down!! I went in, and I saw nothing to do with the devil or anything along those lines. It is 2005 and small towns need to realize that, please. Ok I feel somewhat better!!

  5. Ok thinking of this right about now...what is one song that you can put on the headphones and just zone into that song?

For me it is Stairway to Heaven...I know just an over used classic rock song, but the guy I was with at the time introduced me to Zeppelin and some other things that make listening to music interesting  and I heard that song for the first time in headphones. And to this day, I still can flashback to that feeling I was having listening to Stairway To Heaven.

    :headphones:

  6. Yeah, but if your dues check bounces...watch out, they get downright nasty.

Not gonna really worry...nastiness doesn't seem to be around here...plus I am on a scholarship...LOL!! And this is my second family too Edna...I miss it so much at night. After I leave the station it is home to be a Mama and time with my baby girl means so much. I think of you all and can't wait to get to work to see what has been going on!!

    :headphones: :happybanana:

  9. As of today, Melissa Etheridge fans can log on to strippedmusic.com to check out her performance as part of Clear Channel Radio's stripped: raw and real series. The intimate live performance found her playing her own classic songs as well as a cover of Janis Joplin's "Me And Bobby McGee."

Check this out! Her version of Me and Bobby McGee is great!! Love her hair now!! She looks good...she survived and made it through!

  10. Not sure if they were on the Motown Label but around here when you talk about Motown you are talking Soul...kind of over the years it just became Motown Soul...mainly because those artists were heard mostly on stations from the Detroit area back in the day.

  11. Journey's 'Escape' Tour Due On CD/DVD

A 1981 Journey concert in Houston that was originally broadcast by the fledgling MTV is headed to CD and DVD as "Live in Houston 1981 -- Escape Tour." Due Nov. 15 via Columbia/Legacy, the project was produced by former Journey frontman Steve Perry, who exited the veteran rock act for good in 1998.

Although five of the songs from the show have been previously released, the CD portion sports never-before-available renditions of tracks like "Wheel in the Sky," "Lights," "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'," "Mother, Father," "Line of Fire," and "Escape," as well as "The Party's Over (Hopelessly in Love)," which was not filmed and as such does not appear on the DVD.

The DVD is rounded out by interviews with band members and a rare photo slide show.

Here is the track list for "Live in Houston 1981":
