I'm a pretty movie buff, so here goes a L-O-N-G post...
School of Rock: "God of Rock, thank you for this chance to kick ass. We are your humble servants. Please give us the power to blow people's minds with our high voltage rock. In your name we pray, Amen."
School of Rock: "Give up, just quit, because in this life, you can't win. Yeah, you can try, but in the end you're just gonna lose, big time, because the world is run by the Man. The Man, oh, you don't know the Man. He's everywhere. In the White House... down the hall... Ms. Mullins, she's the Man. And the Man ruined the ozone, he's burning down the Amazon, and he kidnapped Shamu and put her in a chlorine tank! And there used to be a way to stick it to the Man. It was called rock 'n roll, but guess what, oh no, the Man ruined that, too, with a little thing called MTV! So don't waste your time trying to make anything cool or pure or awesome 'cause the Man is just gonna call you a fat washed up loser and crush your soul. So do yourselves a favor and just GIVE UP!"
Mean Girls: " Don't have sex, because you will get pregnant and die! Don't have sex in the missionary position, don't have sex standing up, just don't do it, ok, promise? OK, now everybody take some rubbers."
Forrest Gump: "Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it."
Anchorman: "And I'm Ron Burgundy. Go f**k yourself, San Diego."
i'll stop there...

Most of my bands are the best at what they do...Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix The Ramones, The Doors, KISS
I love Styx and Supertramp, but I know they arent the best. still like 'em tho
-
Ramones not the best? I think that they are the top of their style of music. As far as unique sound and influence go, the Ramones ARE the best. You can name lots more bands that the Ramones have influenced than bands Pink Floyd has influenced (not knocking Pink Floyd - they are best at what they do too.)
I completely agree with the point about the Ramones... They started punk rock and are the best at their style of music. well said

Yes. I have the CD and you're absolutely right! It's excellent. If you like great guitar playing, check out the CrossRoads Guitar Festival DVD. You can get order it online at Amazon for about $20 US. It has 2 to 3 hours of great music on it. Santana and Clapton jam for about 10 minutes on a song called Jingo. Amazing!!!
Thanks for the tip CanAm...I think canadians are extremely smart with our music...agreed?

ugh, I suck at this, I'm gone one day and so much has happened!

Oh I like the Kinks just fine, but I don't think they are as successful as the Who overall.
My List

1.The Beatles
2.The Who
3.The Rolling Stones
4.The Kinks
5.The Yardbirds
That is just my personal favorites...

I love the beginning to The Clash's Train in Vain. I'm not sure if it's base or not, but when I heard that riff, it made me want to listen to the rest of the song.
The beginning of London Calling also makes me want to listen to the rest.
Anyone else agree?
-
not a fan of RADIOHEAD, I'm just enjoying this well thought out title ::
-
I don't know much about Buddy Holly, but I am aware of the great contribuations he made to music and may he rest in peace.
-
It was so sad when Conor died. I faintly remember my mom telling me about that when I was really young and I cried my little eyes out. Tears in Heaven is about him.
But on a lighter note, haha Clapton's still rockin' it out eh? way to go bud :guitar:
-
Just thought I'd mention that The Who has a really great Best Of cd. I'm pretty sure it's the newest one to date. It's called Back by Popular Demand or something along those lines. I have it and it's very good.
Anyone else own it?
~Rocker Deaths~
in Music Discussion
Posted
As time goes on, more and more of our beloved rockers are passing away. I find many rock deaths very interesting because there are many myths and stories behind them. I'm doing a bit of research about the deaths of various artists and was wondering if everyone could help out!
Some Deaths I Could Think Off The Top of My Head:
John Lennon
Jim Morrison
Jon Bonham
Jimi Hendrix
The Boys of Lynyrd Skynyrd
Keith Moon
(may they all rest in peace)
If you have any info on the deaths of these people, or any others i have undoubtabley missed, post it!
I just find it very interesting... oh! and who do you think was the worst loss/ most tragic? My vote would be John Lennon or Jon Bonham...
