  1. So to get the ball rolling...

I see this song as "patience is a virtue". Don't chase down your dreams, let your dreams come to you. Relax your days away, don't rush them by. Take it all in, there's so much going on around you that if you don't take the time to stop and notice, that it will all just pass you by. Like love, if you go searching for it, you usually don't find it. But as soon as you stop, it seems to fall right into your lap.

  2. "It'll Shine When It Shines" by The Ozark Mountain Daredevils

The old cat on the roof

He could stand a little push

'Cause he's got nine good lives to live

    But like my momma said

You only live 'til you're dead

And you got to give and give and give

There's a pebble in the pond

    Goin' on and on,

Makin' waves and tides and ripples and rings

There's a leaf in the wind

That don't know where to end

Chasin' days and ways and wishes and dreams

    Seems like ev'ry one

Is out lookin' for the sun

Singin' rain and pain on he who hesitates

But it'll shine when it shines

You might think I'm wastin' time

But I'm just a good old boy that's learned to wait

    Whippoorwill's in the dawn

    Pretty soon, he'll be gone

And he's got one good song to sing

    But like my daddy said,

It's in your heart, not your head

And you got to sing and sing and sing

There's a window in the wall

    Lookin' out on it all

Leavin' fears and tears and troubles alone

There's a fire in the stove

    Keepin' out the cold,

Warmin' wine and winters and babies and homes

    Seems like ev'ry one

Is out lookin' for the sun

Singin' rain and pain on he who hesitates

But it'll shine when it shines

You might think I'm wastin' time

But I'm just a good old boy that's learned to wait

Yes, I'm just a good old boy that's learned to wait

  3. So I've noticed that the only way to peak everyone's interest is to create an actual subject for everyone to discuss. So I'm going to start something new. Similar to "Book of the Month", this will be the "Lyric of the Week".

At the beginning of each week I'll post a new set of lyrics for everyone to discuss. But instead of making a note of what the artist was thinking, come up with your own opinions. What do you think the song is about? How does the song make you feel? Does it relate to you in any way? I'm going to make these lyrics somewhat non-mainstream so that only a very select few have actually heard the song which makes the discussion more interesting and much more opinionated. But please, do not use this time to bash others' opinions. This is meant to be an open discussion.

I'll post the lyrics in a minute.

P.S. Feel free to PM me with a set of lyrics you'd like to see discussed as well (not something well known).

  4. I agree that Amber Sky is the better of the three. All Good Things is all right, but instead of just coming right out and mentioning suicide, maybe hinting toward it would sound better. Maybe its just the words "suicidal cliche" that make it too obvious. Alone is nice and simple, but maybe a little short. The last verse fits perfectly where it is, but is almost sounds like another verse could be added somewhere in the middle.

  5. Mat, I live in Minnesota in the US and we get lots of snow here. We like to go sledding on the hills when there is snow or build snowmen or have snowball fights or make really big forts out of snow.

You should throw a big snowball at your daddy!

  6. This years line-up (so far)

    Thursday

    5:00 - Savoy Brown

Oh my goodness this is going to be awesome! Johnny and Donnie Van Zant, back to back! Maybe they'll do something off of one of their albums for us. Whoa, that would be awesome!

  7. Aaron, it's hard to find many fans of the Daredevils, that actually think enough of them to mention them concerning anything. I happen to love them, as do a lot of us around here(Mo). They are sort of local heros, actually from down around Springfield. I can think of many, many nights, standing around a bonfire(I was like 18)and playing Chicken Train over and over. 10 or 15 of us all chicken dancin, and bwaaakin like mad! some of my best times. Talk about harmonica!!!! "Chicken train, take the chickens away..."

I find their music very interesting and quite the varience on the style of Southern Rock. They have more of a mountain country appeal as opposed to a country rock or western country appeal. I would love to see them play in concert.

  8. I love New York, just as everybody... but I thought it would have been among the unsafest cities of the US... not that I ever had any problem there, not my case, but I´ve been hearing that from my family who lives there since I was a baby...

I think New York's crimes per 1,000 people is offset by the number of peole living there. New York city has a population just over 8,000,000. If the number of crimes per 1,000 residents is 70, that puts the number at 560,000 crimes. That's a lot. That's around 1 1/2 crimes per person in Minneapolis.

  9. VIKINGS AND SKYNYRD!!!!!!!!!!

Helena, the guitarist on the far right is Leon Wilkeson who died in 2001... you're picture is a wonderful portrait of the guitar front when he was still alive.

    This is for Karhul.

  10. This broken Spanish translation brought to you by an online translator is dedicated to edna

Había una vez una mujer nombrada Helena

Who nos hizo toda la risa y sonrisa

que ella ama su Songfacts maravilloso

así que decidíamos guardarla alrededor para un rato

I know there are mistakes in this, but it's funnier this way!

  11. I think that all the Pink Floyd albums (at least the ones I have) are different in many ways. Each of them seems to explore different areas of rock while still bringing the listener back to styles they've made beautifully before. I like Obscured By Clouds and it's a great lead in to Dark Side of the Moon. But what's even better, is the follow up with Wish You Were Here. In my opinion, Pink Floyd consistantly proved to the world that they can be creative and musically talented in many ways without fading over the years. I really like the power of Atom Heart Mother but I also like the sultry sounds of Wot's... Uh the Deal or the Latin feel from San Tropeaz. But my favorite is when David Gilmour gives the listener a taste of his ability to make his guitar sing like he does in Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Out of the 7 albums I own, Ummagumma is the only one I don't really listen to.

  12. Oh Scott, I can truly appreciate your description of the Midwest. Although I have lived in the cities my whole life, I've driven across the Midwest many times. North Dakota is not a very exciting state to drive through... And the houses are ssssssssooooooooooooooooooo far apart that you can have a party and no one would even know. Just watch out for the tornadoes this summer...! And best of luck to your band. When are you going to be playing in Minneapolis?

  13. I saw it on Friday and I was floored by how good it was. Awesome movie and I highly recommend it. The effects were cool and not over-done or over-the-top. Keanu Reeves is really establishing himself as a good actor. Although he still has the same look he does in most of his movies, I still think he did a great job in this movie. The plot was great and I love the concept of Heaven vs. Hell. I give it 5 stars!
