Oh I'll be there Elvy, and I'll give you a full report when I get back. You know, that's not too far of a drive from Missouri. Twin Lakes is kind of close to Chicago.
-
I say, refer to my post from list # 2. I still think "Street Survivors" from Lynyrd Skynyrd gets my vote.

Here's one I finished today, finally. Started it a while ago.
"It's Not Me"
When you?re around I never seem
To act quite like myself
I look around, I feel so lost
I need a little help
I close my eyes, and tell myself
That the demons all are dead
I keep searching for an answer
To the questions in my head
And sometimes the truth can hurt
And I can?t figure out
Why you?ve tried so hard to screw things up
And keep my mind in doubt
[Chorus]
Save me from myself
And what I have become
I no longer wish
To think of the things I have done
Erase the pain and anguish
Living in my past
Remove my tears and all my hate
From these things that should never last
How did you get inside my head
And rearrange who I really am
You?ve tried so hard to kill me
Without ever raising a hand
You keep me in a state
Of pain and regret
You always remind me
Of the things that I have said
You always know, how to steal my soul
And bring me to my knees
I scream out loud when my mind is gone
Oh please dear God oh please
[Chorus]
Keep me away, from this life
Or just take me from this Earth
The voice inside keeps telling me
That it?s all just gonna hurt
All your lies and all your troubles
Keep coming on to me
Just let me go from your life
Just let me be free
But when I see you I just can?t help
Running toward my fears
You pull me in and keep on saying
The words that I don?t want to hear
[Chorus] x 2
When I look in the mirror, what do I see
? It?s not me

When all is said & done, I´d like to congrat Addicted for his new avatar!
Why thank you Helena, it took me a long time to find. But I got a whole bunch of pictures from this one website that I can use as avatars! Of course, they're all Skynyrd pictures...
-
I always thought the chorus summarized the basic fact that the problems of the US were handed to the "Baby Boomers" and they will end up handing it to "Generation X". Just as we will pass on our problems to our children's generation.

I thought it was one of the greatest half time shows I've ever seen. Paul McCartney did great and the added theatrics during "Live and Let Die" was wonderful. But the best was when the entire stadium sang "Hey Jude" when Paul got off the piano and away from the microphone.

This one's easy...
Eliza Dushku
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Melissa Joan Hart
*sigh*

The Wisdom Of Slash, that sounds like an oxymoron! That's like Keith Richards writing a book titled:
"Drugs are bad"
-
Okay I got it to work, but I made it a two step process. First I had to change the "URL to your avatar" which changed the avatar but set it to the size of the previous avatar. Then I had to do an upload of the same avatar from my PC in order to adjust the size to what it's supposed to be.
-
A. They all auditioned to be in the Monkees.
B. Long Tall Sally
I just looked up some info on the Monkees, and besides that bit of information, they had 400 people apply for the positions available within The Monkees. It's like a 60's version of American Idol...!? ::
-
I'm still unable to change my avatar. Everytime I try to upload a new one, it just changes the size of my current one to whatever the size of the one I'm trying to upload.
-
No sympathy points...
But I predict the answer to the next question will be...
Steve Gaines!
-
Paul McCartney

1: I agree with Uncle Joe, but I'm too late to post it
2: Not a clue, but I'm going to guess that they all had US Hits which featured other singers.
-
I would say Bob Dylan... I have seen tons of best ofs of all kinds... The release of the Beatles song has always been more under control... McCartney is richer than Dylan!! (that means he is wiser...)
I think Dylan has more "Greatest Hits" albums, but The Beatles are featured on way more compilation albums than Dylan. Same with The Who, they have a bunch of "Greatest Hits" and are featured on a bunch of compilation albums.

I wish I was Aaron - I voted for Kodos
Yay me!! Thank you Suzy. Now I'll have to get that song and play it over and over and over and over and over again so that EVERYONE can hear it.
-
Whoa, Suzy's a popular girl, she's had all those song written about her...
I know I don't have any song with my name in them, which is okay with me, because I don't need anyone guy singing a song to me...

not a fan of RADIOHEAD, I'm just enjoying this well thought out title ::
Isn't it a classy title...! I just wanted to stick with the original theme of our discussion.
-
The worst part is when they stick a couple unreleased songs on a "Best Of" compilation which almost forces you to purchase it if you ever want to hear these songs. Bastards...! I'm wondering who has the most "Greatest Hits" compilations. I would have to guess either Bob Dylan or The Beatles.
-
My friend and I were having a discussion the other day and he said that when a band releases a best of, they are basically over. at first i disagreed with him, but when i thought about it a bit more, i found there was a bit of truth in there. what do you think?
sorry if this has been discussed before
Sometimes "Best Of" is the only way to bring all the really good songs onto one album when the original albums are now out of print or just hard to find. It's also a good way to introduce a good older band to the new generation of listeners. It's also cheaper than trying to hunt down 6 albums and buy them all even though sometimes they only contain a couple songs on each that are good but didn't make it on the "Best Of" album. But I don't think it spells the end for everyone.

Ahh yes. You remember Chaquita?
We were hitting it off famously until the accident.
When I disrobed I left my peel on the floor and she slipped and broke her hip. She was never the same after that. Then finally she just split. Geez, all I could say was "thanks a bunch".
So yes, we have no bananazzzzzz.
That was the cheesiest use of banana metaphors I've ever heard.

A long long time ago
I can still remember how that music, used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
Then I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy, for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I delivered
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take, one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
Something touched me deep inside...
The day...
The music...
Died...
There's my 2 cents.

Probably too many while I'm at "work".

i dont think it sounds 80s, according to my boyfriend who is an electronica fan, they have copied more recent people, for example Aphex twin.
can we change the title to this thread?
You don't like the title? I'll make a better one... ::

Aah, thank you girls! I also have one that I posted a couple months ago titled "Vision" if you're interested in viewing it.
