  1. Yesterday
  2. Some things just pop up and catch my eye on YouTube. Ron Goodwin's "Aces High" is a great triumphal march for the we-just-won-the-battle-of-France Luftwaffe in itself. Press PLAY if you want to hear what the Luftwaffe ground crews and pilots were singing after a bottle or two of French Vin Ordinaire...;) "Dixie" sung by Texas-German Confederates...
  3. Keyboard player NOJAH looks at the "Star Wars Cantina Band" and wondered how a selected set of performers and composers would wind up with. Press PLAY to hear what Bach, Chopin, etc. would play...;) How about Bach on the "Krusty Krab" theme?
  4. Earlier
  5. Are there any long-term "Bob's Burgers" fans out there? Press PLAY to see things mentioned/seen in earlier episodes that pop up much later. (It beats Trivial Pursuit, I guess.;)
  6. I've been watching the FX miniseries, "Shogun" and have gotten to episode 4, where "John Blackthorne" is back in Ajiro village and is showing Samurai how to aim long range guns taken from the "Erasmus." Things are ever-so-slightly different from the 1980 miniseries, but at least we have English subtitles for Samurai elocution. "Metatron" is an admirer of all things having to do with armor, weapons, and culture. Here he takes a very deep dive into the current version of "Shogun." Press PLAY if you want to find out if "they got it right," in spite of having to shoot scenes in places other than Japan.
  7. It's till 3/13 out here, but I'm sure that 3/14 will arrive to be celebrated. Press PLAY to learn "The Pi Song.";)
  8. I'd seen this posted on YouTube for a while, but preferred to look at other videos. It's late at night and a Rapper just discovered Billy Joel's "Piano Man," and it's cool rainy night. "Piano Man" brought me down, so it was time to see what Fil of "Wings of Pegasus" had to say about this cover. Press PLAY if you're a Karen Carpenter fan, you won't be disappointed.;)
  9. Sad I heard about this from Songfacts facebook page on my commute
  10. Shocking! These two sisters died exactly one day apart from each other! Carly Simon's sisters Lucy and Joanna die one day apart from cancer (usatoday.com)
  11. Eric Carmen, lead singer of Raspberries, dies at 74 – NBC Los Angeles
  12. It's 1982 and it's Spring Break or just before Summer and you want to "play your own kind of music," how do you do that? Techmoan to the rescue, with a Sony cassette player that spreads "the music all around." Press PLAY if you want to be exposed to Matt's portable Karaoke machine! As usual, the secretary is out to lunch and doesn't know anything about your shenanigans...;)
  13. Our Canadian Chinese movie commentator put up a poll and guess what won. Press PLAY if you want to know what a Meme in Chinese language movies look like. Would you believe that you can kill an enemy with an insult? Swearing in Taiwan Chinese is...smoother? Chinese SmartPhone art is something else...;)
  14. How goes the state of "Star Trek" fan fiction tales? Press PLAY to see what can de done in less than 30 minutes on a tight budget. Note: This tale was a "Dave Cullen" recommendation.
  15. A Daily Wire correspondent interviews actor/writer/director David Mamet, who has choice things to say about newspaper reviews of his plays and the desire for audiences to hear a story told, not a "Cod Liver Oil" lecture. Press PLAY at your discretion, it may change your mind about the world today.
  16. After ten years, the tale can be told. "Techmoan" presents Part Three of "the tape recorders of 'Mission: Impossible"! Press PLAY if you want to find out more about the Concord F-20 reel-to-reel tape recorder that appeared from 1966-1972. This recording will self-destruct in 10 seconds because The Secretary is on her lunch break...;)
  17. Are you a fan of bird calls? No? Techmoan has something that will pique your disinterest. In an nondescript box, he found a set of 1970 recordings for bird brains. Is Techmona doing it right? Press PLAY to find out about 1970 Audible Audubon recordings that will tantalize your cat!
  18. Those "Chatty Kathy" dolls had a tiny record and playback mechanism inside, back in the first half of the 20th century. "Techmoan" has accepted his current Mission: Impossible, to get these tiny records to play on a 1970's Action Man Field Radio player. Press PLAY to find out what secret messages are to be found on "Chatty Kathy"! As usual, if "Techmoan" is caught or killed during his mission, The Secretary will disavow any knowledge of such activity...
  19. I found this out last night when talking on the phone with my sweet love, Johnny. I'm not usually one to talk this way, but I bet the members of The Chicks thought they got their revenge when they heard this news. Country singer Toby Keith dies at 62 (nbcnews.com) What I mean is, remember when he was angry with them after Natalie said they were ashamed to be from the same state as former President George W. Bush?
  20. It's Saturday morning, time for another "Techmoan" Tech video. Did you ever hear about "MQA-CD"? Me neither, by that time, in the early 2000s, music CD sales were about to take a death dive. "Media streaming services" offered EVERYTHING recorded "at any time/all the time" without the "clutter of physical media." Back in 2018, "Techmoan" looked at MQA-CD and found that the decoders and players were only available at "Audiophile Prices" (Thousands of Pounds Sterling, of course.;) Recordings of this latest "better than regular CD" format were available only in Japan. Flash forward to today, hardware and music CD prices have flattened out, but the format appears to have "only historical interest." Press PLAY to find out about the "tempest in a teacup" Internet battle for tech information and sound comparisons...if you dare...
  21. "Serenity" didn't answer enough questions about the "Firefly 'verse"? Here's a look at a fan fiction movie for Browncoats who assert: "Can't Stop The Signal." Press PLAY if you want to see a fan fiction movie that outdoes the Disney Company's Dumpster Fires...;)
  22. Disney's "Steamboat Willie" has spawned a number of interesting "variations on a theme." However, this pales in comparison to the days when IP copyrights were frequently ignored, resulting in unique local takes on pirated characters. Press PLAY to find out about "Turkish Star Wars," "Filipino Batman," and other Asian takes on Hollywood and Tokyo...
  23. Submitted for your amusement, outtakes, deleted scenes, goofy video, and a "Firefly" cast reunion. Remember: Every time a viewer (YouTube or video) falls in love with "Firefly," a Fox TV executive falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building. Press PLAY to get ready for a fun weekend...;)
  24. Submitted for a chuckle or two, in several languages. Part way through Wendy Corduroy's Teen gang's exploration of the abandoned "Dusk 2 Dawn" store, Mabel comes across "Do Not Sell" candy, gobbles it and "gets spacey." Press PLAY if Winter 2024 is getting you down...
  25. Submitted for your entertainment, UK Post Office slide show+audio from the 1980's! In a dramatic first, "Techmoan" had fewer-than-usual problems getting this imported-from-Germany unit to work. Press PLAY to see what your loose change would get you at the Post Office...
  26. The original "Star Wars" movie is about to turn 46 years old. How many of these trivia bits do you know? Press PLAY if you don't have anything better to do or if the local TV station insists on broadcasting the "sequel trilogy.";)
  27. Submitted for Comedy or Truth, Paul Chato, A former network TV executive, hacked the security cameras at Walt Disney company and reveals what "Igor the Bob" does behind closed doors. Press PLAY to find out why Disney keeps making Dumpster Fire movies, if you dare!;) That "Springtime For Hitler" song
