MuzikTyme
Yet another great example of oustanding chorus breaks. Explosive to say the least: Poem Overbearing panic attack entrenching my veins In an hour I'll be okay I pray this pain will go away permanently someday I've seen more than I should have to I've seen this all on my own This song is a poem to myself, it helps me to live In case of fire break the glass and move on into your own your own Reoccurring drowning effect entrenching my brain I hope you'll be okay someday so i can say that you've moved on in the right way We've seen this and we've breathed this in We've lived this on our own This song is a poem to myself, it helps me to live In case of fire, break the glass and move on into your own BREAK!! Sweet Jane 61
I use to listen to this song all the time when it came out, I even have the album. And I just remembered it about while reading this thread, I like the lyrics and the music. He has a cool voice too. Mourning Is there something that you’re trying to say Don't hold back now It's been a long time since I felt this way So don't hold back now I purposely forgot about Loving anyone Cause I'm the only one who has Who has been stepped upon Is there something that you’re trying to say Cause I can take it Cause I grew up a man this way If I'm hurt I'll shake it I'll crawl back into my cave That's how I'll make it Cause out of all this hurt we have Beauty thus become Beauty thus become [Chorus:] In the mourning I can see the sights No wonder I could never keep you satisfied In the mourning I can see inside Myself and all the things that you were trying to hide [Repeat] Wishing all the best for you And now I’ll say goodbye Cause all the ******* that we've been through Put wisdom in my eyes So walk away, don't turn around Cause I won't be standing here Cause all the lies that I've been living through Are becoming very clear And beauty thus become Oh yeah, ah [Chorus] Then you conned me into thinking That all I had was you The small insinuations Were cutting me through Cutting me through And now I stand alone here Stronger than before And I'll never go back Never go back Never go
Farin
everytime I see the thread title I have to think of: Dry Your Eyes ~ The Streets In one single moment your whole life can turn 'round I stand there for a minute starin' straight into the ground Lookin' to the left slightly, then lookin' back down World feels like it's caved in - proper sorry frown Please let me show you where we could only just be, for us I can change and I can grow or we could adjust The wicked thing about us is we always have trust We can even have an open relationship, if you must I look at her she stares almost straight back at me But her eyes glaze over like she's lookin' straight through me Then her eyes must have closed for what seems an eternity When they open up she's lookin' down at her feet Dry your eyes mate I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up There's plenty more fish in the sea Dry your eyes mate I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts But you've got to walk away now It's over So then I move my hand up from down by my side It's shakin', my life is crashin' before my eyes Turn the palm of my hand up to face the skies Touch the bottom of her chin and let out a sigh 'Cause I can't imagine my life without you and me There's things I can't imagine doin', things I can't imagine seein' It weren't supposed to be easy, surely Please, please, I beg you please She brings her hands up towards where my hands rested She wraps her fingers round mine with the softness she's blessed with She peels away my fingers, looks at me and then gestures By pushin' my hand away to my chest, from hers Dry your eyes mate I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up There's plenty more fish in the sea Dry your eyes mate I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts But you've got to walk away now It's over And I'm just standin' there, I can't say a word 'Cause everythin's just gone I've got nothin' Absolutely nothin' Tryin' to pull her close out of bare desperation Put my arms around her tryin' to change what she's sayin' Pull my head level with hers so she might engage in Look into her eyes to make her listen again I'm not gonna fuckin', just fuckin' leave it all now 'Cause you said it'd be forever and that was your vow And you're gonna let our things simply crash and fall down You're well out of order now, this is well out of town She pulls away, my arms are tightly clamped round her waist Gently pushes me back and she looks at me straight Turns around so she's now got her back to my face Takes one step forward, looks back, and then walks away Dry your eyes mate I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up There's plenty more fish in the sea Dry your eyes mate I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts But you've got to walk away now It's over I know in the past I've found it hard to say Tellin' you things, but not tellin' straight But the more I pull on your hand and say The more you pull away Dry your eyes mate I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up There's plenty more fish in the sea Dry your eyes mate I know you want to make her see how much this pain hurts But you've got to walk away now. MuzikTyme
Still, country has and always will produce the best sad songs. I missed this oh-so-true quote and felt the need to add one of my favourite brooding and hopelessly sad country songs. This man needs no introduction . . . barstool waiting 4 U! Two doors down there's a jukebox That plays all night long Real sad songs All about me and you Two doors down there's a barmaid That serves 'em real strong Here lately That's how I make it through Two doors down there's a heartache That once was my friend Two doors down there's a memory That won't ever end Two doors down there's a barstool That knows me by name And we sit there together And wait for you Two doors down there's a bottle Where I take out my shame And hold it up For the whole world to view Two doors down there's a pay phone But no calls come in Two doors down there's a memory That won't ever end From the hotel to the barroom Is just a stumble and a fall And sometimes when it gets bad I've been known to crawl Freedom from sorrow Is just two doors away I'll escape for a short time But I know I can't stay Two doors down is where they'll find me When you're finally through Taking what's left of my life Two doors down is where they'll leave me When payment comes due For the hours I've spent there each night Two doors down I'll be forgotten But until then Two doors down there's a memory That won't ever end . . . blue_n_white
A couple more from the world of coutry: "Is It Cold In Here" - Joe Diffie "I will Always Love You" - the original Dolly Parton version not the Whitney Houston version,a song Dolly wrote about her love for her mentor, maybe lover,Porter Wagoner. Dolly and Vince Gill also did a pretty good version a few years ago,but the original is without a doubt the best and a tear jerker.

Lea
I like this one. It's country and when I first heard it brought a lump to my throat. I got it for my DH and he loved it to. Confederate Railroad When You Leave That Way You Can Never Go Back I remember waking in the morning To the sound of the rooster's crow Mamma cooking in the kitchen Arthur Godfrey on the radio Me and Dad were just like strangers We never did see eye to eye Came to blows one Sunday morning So I packed my bags and I said goodbye CHORUS When you leave that way you can never go back A train won't run on a torn up track Sometimes I wish I'd never roamed,oh no 'Cause when you leave that way you can never go home Then I met a girl in Knoxville Oh, we set our wedding day I left her standing at the alter With a baby on the way REPEAT CHORUS Lord I'd love to see my mom and daddy And what I'd give to hold that boy of mine I'd get down on my knees and I'd say I'm sorry If I could only go back one more time But I killed a man in Houston When he caught me with his wife And I told the preacher man to leave me alone When he came to read my rights CHORUS He said son, when you leave this way you can never come back A soul won't roll on a torn up track All through eternity you'll roam alone 'Cause when you leave this way you can never come home All through eternity you'll roam alone 'Cause when you leave this way you can never come home

Sweet Jane 61
Take It on Faith ~ Joshua Kadison Hey, I didn't mean a thing I said last night. I swear I didn't mean a word I used. You don't have to listen, baby. You have every right to feel that heart of yours has been abused. I know I've used up all my chances a long, long time ago and I really don't deserve to call you mine, but, if I told you that I loved you, could I lay back down beside you? Could you take it on faith one more time? Look at me I'm crying... imagine me crying. Well, it's time I learned to anyway, 'cause if you're really set on one of us leaving, I guess there's really nothing left to say. It seems like such a shame, but baby, I could never blame you, baby, for leaving this old story far behind and if I told that I love you, could I lay back down beside you? Could you take it on faith one more time? I know I promised to you before I wouldn't do anything to hurt you no more If I could take it all back and start again... take it all back well maybe then, I could tell you that I love you. I could lay back down beside you. I could tell you that I love you, I could lay back down beside you. If I told you that I love you, could I lay back down beside you? Could you take me on faith one more time? Video Click on the song and then you will have a stupid ad at the beginning and then the song...tear jerker! Sweet Jane 61
Todd Rundgren Can We Still Be Friends ~ Todd Rundgren We cant play this game anymore But can we still be friends Things just cant go on like before But can we still be friends We had something to learn Now its time for the wheel to turn Grains of sand, one by one Before you know it, all gone Lets admit we made a mistake But can we still be friends Heartbreaks never easy to take But can we still be friends Its a strange, sad affair Sometimes seems like we just dont care Dont waste time feeling hurt Weve been through hell together Can we still get together sometime You know life will still go on and on and on We awoke from our dream Things are not always what they seem Memories linger on Its like a sweet, sad old song When my first love and I broke up a lifetime ago this song was one I listened to over and over, and yes we are still friends to this day. blind-fitter
"Breaker" - Low An example of some cool "modern" music.
