MuzikTyme
I'm something similar to a caveman when it comes to new music. I've criticized it quite often. Though there are exceptions to every rule. I'm very impressed with the passion set forth in the chorus of Papa Roach's wonderful song: Forever I can't remember when I've heard such feeling in a chorus' break. What say you? Oh, please add some of your favourite new songs so that I may evolve to the stone age, maybe I'll start using utensils and soap, too. Nah. ~Forever~ In the brightest hour Of my darkest day I realized what is wrong with me Can’t get over you Can’t get through to you It’s been a helter-skelter romance from the start Take these memories That are haunting me Of a paper man cut into shreds By his own pair of scissors He’ll never forgive her He’ll never forgive her . . . Because days . . . come and go! But my feelings for you are forever!!! Because days . . . come and go! But my feelings for you are forever!!! Sitting by a fire on a lonely night Hanging over from another good time With another girl little dirty girl You should listen to this story of her life You’re my heroine in this moment I’m lonely fulfilling my darkest dreams All these drugs all these women I’m never forgiven this broken heart of mine . . . Because days . . . come and go! But my feelings for you are forever!!! Because days . . . come and go! But my feelings for you are forever!!! One last kiss . . . before I go Dry your tears . . . it is time to let you go One last kiss . . . before I go Dry your tears . . . it is time to let you go . . . Because days . . . come and go! But my feelings for you are forever!!! Because days . . . come and go! But my feelings for you are forever!!! One last kiss . . . before I go Dry your tears . . . it is time to let you go One last kiss . . . before I go Dry your tears . . . it's time to let you go One last kiss . . . I was in a bar with some friends when it came on the first time I saw it and I had tears in my eyes. But I saved myself because I said "This round is on me." So I don't think anybody noticed the tears. Free booze does that.
MuzikTyme
Holy Kleenex ! Thanks for filling my day with gut-wrenching music and depleting my supply of tissues. Colleen was good as well. So, people, feel free to add more fairly recent songs or, wet paint.
blue_n_white
"Go Rest High On That Mountain" - Vince Gill with Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs "Believe" - Brooks and Dunn Here's an oldie but a goodie: "He Stopped Loving Her Today" - George Jones I think country music may have the best cry in your beer tear jerkers. MuzikTyme
"He Stopped Loving Her Today" - George Jones The epitome of brooding yet timeless country classic. Another impending doom song that reeks of desperation: Walking the Floor Over You by Hank Snow Let's not limit ourselves to classic country, rather, new recent music that one day will be classic. blue_n_white
Still country, but recent and both by Brad Paisley and both duo's: "Whiskey Lullaby" - Brad Paisley with Allison Krauss "When I Get Where I'm Going" - Brad Paisley with Dolly Parton Sorry if everything I post in this thread is from country music but I just think country has and always will produce the best sad songs. blind-fitter
Why do you take my words that way, m'dear? _Laurie_
I agree with BnW on country music having heart-felt songs...here's one I heard the other day... If Your Reading This (I'm Already Home) Tim McGraw If you’re reading this My momma is sitting there Looks like I only got a one way ticket over here I sure wish I could give you one more kiss War was just a game we played when we were kids Well I’m laying down my gun I’m hanging up my boots I’m up here with God And we’re both watching over you So lay me down In that open field out on the edge of town And know my soul Is where my momma always prayed that it would go. If you’re reading this I’m already home. If you’re reading this Half way around the world I won’t be there to see the birth of our little girl I hope she looks like you I hope she fights like me Stand up for the innocent and the weak I’m laying down my gun Hanging up my boots Tell dad I don’t regret that i followed in his shoes So lay me down In that open field out on the edge of town And know my soul is where my momma always prayed that it would go If you’re reading this, I’m already home If you’re reading this, there is going to come a day You move on and find someone else and that’s okay Just remember this I’m in a better place Soldiers live in peace and angels sing amazing grace So lay me down In that open field out on the edge of town And know my soul is where my momma always prayed that it would go If you’re reading this If you’re reading this I’m already home

MuzikTyme
The sideline about the abominable snow-donkey-bear has me drying tears. By way of clarification, Muzik: are you after examples of "Good Modern Music" or examples of songs that might move you to tears? Or examples of a combination of the two? My original intention was examples of good new songs but feel free to add any song you deem a stand-out. Oh, figured I'd add the video to Forever. Crank it up! MuzikTyme
You're most welcome, Sweet J. It's one of those type songs that grew on me, like fungus. That's okay, though. I like mushrooms. He may be a tad scary but he's got one hell of a voice IMHO.
MuzikTyme
This song isn't very recent but it's another one of those songs that grew on me because of its excellent chorus: Crank it! Fine Again Fine Again by Seether It seems like every day’s the same And I’m left to discover on my own It seems like everything is gray And there’s no color to behold They say it’s over and I’m fine again, yeah Try to stay sober feels like I’m dying here And I am aware now of how Everything’s gonna be fine one day Too late, I’m in hell I am prepared now, Seems everyone’s gonna be fine One day too late, just as well I feel the dream in me expire And there’s no one left to blame it on I hear you label me a liar ‘Cause I can’t seem to get this through You say it’s over, I can sigh again, yeah Why try to stay sober when I’m dying here And I am aware now of how Everything’s gonna be fine one day Too late, I’m in hell I am prepared now, seems everyone’s gonna be fine One day too late; just as well And I’m not scared now. I must assure you, You’re never gonna get away And I’m not scared now. And I’m not scared now. No… I am aware now of how everything’s gonna be fine one day Too late, I’m in hell I am prepared now Seems everyone’s gonna be fine One day too late, just as well I am prepared now, seems everything’s gonna be fine for me For me; for myself. For me, for me, for myself For me, for me, for myself I am prepared now for myself I am prepared now, and I am fine again
MuzikTyme
You may see a pattern with my first two videos. Both have catchy chorus lines and steady beats. Though not recent, this is but another song which explodes with feeling during its chorus as well as its steady-as-a-rock beat. Raise the volume. For You For You by Staind To my mother, to my father, It's your son or it's your daughter Are my screams loud enough for you to hear me? Should I turn it up for you? I sit here locked inside my head Remembering everything you've said This silence gets us nowhere! Gets us nowhere way too fast! The silence is what kills me I need someone to help me But you don't know how to listen And let me make decisions 'cause I sit here locked inside my head Remembering everything you've said The silence gets us nowhere! Gets us nowhere way too fast! All your insults and your curses make Me feel like I'm not a person And I feel like I'm nothing but you made me so do something Because I'm fucked up because you are Need attention, attention you couldn't give I sit here locked inside my head Remembering everything you've said This silence gets us nowhere! Gets us nowhere way too fast!
