I'm The Face - The High Numbers Quadrophenia tells the story of a young mod, and sparked the mod revival of the late 70s and early 80s. Like all the nice things in the world it came about thanks to Pete Townshend and The Who, and their 1973 rock opera of the same name. This (wonderful and amazing, of course) piece of music was turned into a movie six years later, also with the help of the band, and features some songs that can be found on the original LP, as well as some songs from the early 60s. Although filmed in 1979, this movie has a distinctive early-60s flair about it, and of course a large part of this is due to the music. Songs like Be My Baby, which is really typical for the time, play a big role in that, and then of course there's all those Who songs which tell the story just as much as the film itself. Even though a lot of songs that were on the original LP have been cut out, there a some new songs, Four Faces, Joker James and Get Out And Stay Out (my personal favourite) which help the story along. The most significant song in my opinion is The Real Me, which talks about Jimmy's struggle against himself. I think it could have been used in a better scene, but this way you'll get to see both mods and rockers. (the clip's in Spanish, unfortunately... just a few lines though)

OLD 55
Hi Tim ! .............................................. There is, of course, a Double CD Music From and Inspired By 'The Big Chill' with 38 great tracks, but that's not the Soundtrack. It was a good Movie too. Was I supposed to review the Movie ? I only saw it once and I really can't remember it very well! I just read about choosing one song and a scene. Anyone remmber what song was playing at the funeral scene ? I'd go for it ! Now I'll have to rent the DVD.

Lucky
That would be the one! I wanted to nominate this soundtrack as well, but didn't because I couldn't highlight that particular song. This is still one of my favorite films and soundtracks ever!! skybluesky
Jo Beth Williams plays "YOu Can't Always Get What You Want" on the organ as Alex's last request, then as the pall bearers carry the casket out of the church, The Stones version kicks in. Farin
Natural Born Killers This one being a quite controversal film there are exactly two opinions about it: one part sees it as a sadistical orgy of bloody violence - others see it as a brilliant (albeit violent) satire on the media and about the glorification of (some) serial killers but regardless what you think about the movie in itself - the Soundtrack definitly deserves a nomination. Compiled/Produced by Trent Reznor, lead of Nine Inch Nails, and while it's been awhile since I saw it, the songs are just perfect to recreate the eerie feeling of the film, and one review I just ready goes so far to claim "In fact, Reznor managed to convey the insanity of the movie's lead characters much more effectively than Oliver Stone (director) did with the film itself.", if you take a look at the track list you might already know what he means (note: I'm not posting any scenes from the movie itself - if you're interested, there are quite a few music videos directly from the movie on youtube ) Track listing 1. Leonard Cohen — "Waiting For The Miracle" (Edit) 2. L7 — "Shitlist" 3. Dan Zanes — "Moon Over Greene County" (Edit) 4. Patti Smith — "Rock 'N' Roll *******" (Flood Remix) 5. Cowboy Junkies — "Sweet Jane" (Edit) (brilliant cover btw) 6. Bob Dylan — "You Belong To Me" 7. Duane Eddy — "The Trembler" (Edit) 8. Nine Inch Nails — "Burn" 9. BB Tone Brian Berdan — "Route 666" [smaller]featuring Robert Downey Jr.[/smaller] 10. "Totally Hot" [smaller]contains an edit of Remmy Ongala And Orchestre Super Matimila — "Kipenda Roho"[/smaller] 11. Patsy Cline — "Back In Baby's Arms" 12. Peter Gabriel And Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan — "Taboo" (Edit) 13. "Sex Is Violent" [smaller]contains excerpts of Jane's Addiction — "Ted Just Admit It" and Diamanda Galás — "I Put A Spell On You"[/smaller] 14. A.O.S. — "History (Repeats Itself)" (Edit) 15. ariem
The Verve - Bittersweet simphony - on the last scenes of the movie Cruel intentions(1999)- it seems to me like the best soundtrack which corresponds to the movie ending.

OLD 55
Big Congratulations to Dear Elvy (you'll have nearly as many children as me soon - not that I've actually had them), and Martin and Lucky on reviving this Thread + anyone else who was/is involved. My local Video/DVD Library didn't have 'The Big Chill' when I tried yesterday (Cheap Chuesday) so I'll try another one later in the week. Then I'll work out which one of the soundtrack songs part of the Movie I relate to most. I haven't seen it for over 20 years.
phil
This is why I like this soundtrack. Boogie nights is a great film about the sleazy, everything goes era of the 1970's Porn industry in California. It's a great ensemble cast with Mark Wahlberg (Dirk Diggler), Burt Reynolds, John C. Reilly, Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle, Heather Graham, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy and Alfred Molina. I like the pool party scene where the characters are just having a good time. In the background you hear Spill The Wine by Eric Burdon and War. It's a great song for that scene. I also like in the drug deal that went terribly wrong. With Alfred Molina as the crazed drug dealer, and he's singing Sister Christian which is playing from his hand made "awesome" song tape.
