Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 Did you ever realize that "Stressed" spelled backwards is "Desserts"..... Explains so much now to me Laurie...now I can justify my cravings!!
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Did you know that taking cough medicine, cold pills and those Fishermans Friends cough drops comes close to a state of high...I have a bobble-head feeling going on...which is cool because basically at this moment I don't give a hoot about much of anything
edna Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Cough medicine has codeine, Jane... I take it too sometimes...
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 All this medicine has been the only good thing about this cold junk I have...doc said take it so I am...
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 <<<<< feeling invisable would rather be invincible
Farin Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 I take it you already know Of tough and bough and cough and dough? Others may stumble, but not you On hiccough, thorough, slough, and through. Well don't! And now you wish, perhaps, To learn of less familiar traps. Beware of heard, a dreadful word That looks like beard but sounds like bird. And dead: it's said like bed, not bead, For goodness sake don't call it deed! Watch out for meat and great and threat (They rhyme with suite and straight and debt). A moth is not a moth as in mother Nor both as in bother, nor broth as in brother, And here is not a match for there, Nor dear and fear, for bear and pear. And then there's dose and rose and lose-- Just look them up--and goose and choose And cork and work and card and ward And font and front and word and sword And do and go, then thwart and cart, Come, come! I've hardly made a start. A dreadful Language? Why man alive! I learned to talk it when I was five. And yet to write it, the more I tried, I hadn't learned it at fifty-five.
Levis Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 I always whined about that. It's the most illogical thing there is.
Kevin Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 Pull your lips aside ( horizontally, of course ) and say ' puck ' ... tee-hee ! ...and what did you learn today , Billy ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meta-joke Oh , God ! I'm beginning to surf the net like Farin !
Farin Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 I'm taking that as a compliment btw, I could (and occasionally do) spend hours browsing through wikipedia
Farin Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 I'm currently reading Nick Hornby's novel High Fidelity good book but wikipedia is the greatest source for general knowledge there is
Shawna Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 but wikipedia is the greatest source for general knowledge there is Soak up enough of that and you'll be a real contender for the next Trivial Pursuit tournament.
Kevin Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 but wikipedia is the greatest source for general knowledge there is I know it may be frightening ... but ever consider going offline and venturing out into the real world ?!
Farin Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 my eyes aren't used to such brightness anymore, you know?
_Laurie_ Posted November 1, 2007 Author Report Posted November 1, 2007 I know it may be frightening ... but ever consider going offline and venturing out into the real world ?! Yes Kevy, there are dorks in the real world too...
edna Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 I know it may be frightening ... but ever consider going offline and venturing out into the real world ?!
MarcM Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 The only problem with wikipedia is that it is easy for someone with an agenda to put their info up as truth whether it is or not. I like to spend hours in book stores.
Farin Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 The only problem with wikipedia is that it is easy for someone with an agenda to put their info up as truth whether it is or not. I like to spend hours in book stores. that's true, but it's actually quite hard for it to remain 'the truth' for a long time (if it's a popular topic) the people there are actually pretty keen on having a source for everything... nonetheless you should always be careful of taking everything you read as the truth - whether it's on wikipedia, the internet in general or some books
blue_n_white Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 Glad I'm not sittin' by you. I hate lighting bolts.
