Well , the PM suddenly quit as you may have heard , and the party ( which has been in power for more or less 60+ years is scrambling to find a new leader . " guys are after , eventhough one has the backing of most of the 'factions' within the ruling party . But -boy ! Are they both ever out drumming up support today , although there are only a couple of days for the party to make a choice .

Both candidates are now in Osaka saying how they hope the local baseball team will do well this year ! It's a simple contest of who looks / appears , at a gut-level , more trustworthy and hopeful ; 'issues' are really no one's concern anyway . :( Democracy is alive and well in Asia , never fear .

Often I don't really see many political differences between here and Maoist China , except for the the lack of purges , executions , etc . :P If this is a country that the US conquered and consider them one of their best allies but couldn't bring even them around to real democracy - what chance does Iraq have ?!
