Steel2Velvet
I was flipping through cable channels the other night and stopped on a movie I just never seem to see enough times. Oh sure, as I was surfing the channels I saw lots of movies I had seen before, but my wife came in the room and laughed, "You ALWAYS watch this movie!" That got me thinking. There ARE movies I never pass by when airing on cable, because I always see something there I hadn't seen before. Here are a few that come immediately to mind. How about you? Are there certain cable-bound movies you MUST stay with on the TV, when you run across them, no matter how often they air? Fargo - so many characters of interest Kalifornia - Pitt perfect as creep and equally strong supporting efforts Groundhog Day - no matter how many times I see it, I always see something new Thelma and Louise - perfect ensemble cast Godfather I - so well made ... every moment Get Shorty - my poor wife doesn't get the attraction here Payback - tune in for the plot twisting, stay for the toe smashing LA Confidential - another great ensemble cast, eh Edmund? Steel2Velvet
"The Honcho of Headlines" "The Baron of Banners" "The Guru of Grabbers" "The High Priest of Print" .... oh yes, my friend, it's you who have inspired me. My original title for this thread was "Movies that make you stop" and then I thought, "What would RonJon write?" Thank you, Master of Mastheads. Steel2Velvet
Oh ... well, I guess I am the only one to which this phenomenon makes a visit. OK. Think I'll go watch Godfather again.
Jenny
No, Ron, you're not. I always watch Forrest Gump, The Breakfast Club, When Harry Met Sally and Gladiator when they come on. I'm sure there are others too, but those were the first few off the top of my head.
The Seeker
I've watched Forrest Gump, Scent of a Woman and Rain Main lots of times... almost every time they were on TV. It depends greatly on actors with me though. I don't watch TV anymore but when I did, I was very unlikely to miss a Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino film. Batman
Mean Girls, which is sort of embarassing since it's sometimes called a chick flick, but I like it, and I still think it's funny.
_Laurie_
I saw that movie Batman....It is funny,....but it's not so far fetched either....girls are really like that in some schools.....
Batman
Yeah that's one of the things I like about it so much, it's really realistic. I'll be watching it and I'll say "I know that girl, I've been to that party, I know that teacher," etc. Anyways, I'm glad most of the members of my gender are nice to each other! Foolonthehill
Yeah, most people (teachers especially)are so focused on the fact that teenage boys are reckless hormone-heads that they don't notice that girls have the potential to be even worse. We will never know the truth, men. The girls have that perfect PMS alibi going for them. It's the impenetrable God-given defense for anything they do or don't do.
