"The Night That The Lights Went Out In Georgia" was the first big "murder ballad" from my day.

I nominated that in the Top Ten and nobody voted for it. ;)

Murder ballads, or just murder songs ? I think you'd get a lot more replies if you changed it to that, Johnny. A ballad is basically a light, simple song having two or more verses, that tells a story. Just a suggestion !

Good pick! If not mistaken, that tune was considered for 'Cher' but Sonny turned it down for subject matter. He later produced Cher's "Half-Breed."

hmmmm, somewhat contradictory I suppose.

you know, the song is actually more of a Hate song, the murder is only additionally - and it's not even her (Susi) that gets murdered, rather she is the murderer and kills herself shortly after that...

if you know the humour of this band, you'll realise that you shouldn't take ANY song of theirs too (or at all) seriously ;) :grin:
