Farin Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 back to topic: Making Plans for Nigel ~ Primus the music is pretty cool, only the singing is a bit...
skybluesky Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I prefer~Nouvelle Vague-Making Plans for Nigel
Lucky Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 ^ Sympathy for the Devil? GnR's version is good, but no where near as great as the original. However their cover of Knockin' On Heaven's Door is pretty freaking good.

Batman Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Stevie Wonder - "We Can Work It Out" is in my opinion the biggest improvement of an already popular song, and that's saying a lot since the original was by the Beatles.
MindCrime Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Louie Louie ~ Black Flag I have that on my car's iPod
TheLizard Posted July 5, 2009 Report Posted July 5, 2009 Stevie Wonder - "We Can Work It Out" is in my opinion the biggest improvement of an already popular song, and that's saying a lot since the original was by the Beatles. That and EWF's "Got To Get You Into My Life" are the only Beatles covers that I would consider improvements.
TheLizard Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) This may be blasphemous to some, but I think Seven Nations' cover of "Under The Milky Way" is far superior to the original. I can't find good audio for it online, so you'll just have to take my word for it. (The version from "Seven Nations" is the one I am referring to, not the one from "Big Dog", although that one is good too.) Edited July 7, 2009 by Guest

MindCrime Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Baker Street - Foo Fighters (sorry I'm not going to search through 300+ posts to see if this has already been posted)
BlueAngel Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 I've always preferred Bauhaus' version of "Ziggy Stardust" .
chutzpah Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Acid Eaters- "Ramones" covers quite a few bands and IMO everyone of them is good...short versions but...hey...
chutzpah Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 and...I just heard "Laugh at me" originally by Sonny Bono but covered by Mott the Hoople... Ian Hunter gives this song it's place...both versions are good but Mott the Hoople's (Ian Hunter) really puts some kick too it...
pinkstones Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 How Can You Mend A Broken Heart - Al Green --> listen here It was originally done by The Bee Gees and Al's version is so much better, you shouldn't listen to the Bee Gees version anymore.
Lucky Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 Oh honestly? I was prepared to love it, and I think it's awful, I'm sorry.
pinkstones Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 How can anything by Al Green be awful? God love the Bee Gee's version, but he adds soul and pain and *something* to it that Barry Gibb just cannot.
Lucky Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 Because it's not Al Green, it's a BeeGee's cover. He did his thing with it, and that's great, but "his thing" wasn't meant for that song. Just my opinion, I love Al Green, but not this time.
BlueAngel Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Neverending White Lights does a nice, low-key version of New Order's "Age of Consent".

Farin Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 how disappointing... in your first two post you were at least pretending not to only spam
Farin Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 King of Rodeo ~ Kings of Leon King of Rodeo ~ The Bamboos feat. Megan Washington I actually like the cover more than the original
bazooka Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 The Letter (x 2) I enjoy the contrast between The Box Tops' apathetic lip-synching to the original and Joe Cocker's extreme Live performance (with more than a little help from Leon Russell, in his Rock Star heyday)
