Lucky
I much prefer Cocker's version as well ... a little touch of Leon makes everything better.
berjo1429030949
How Can You Mend A Broken Heart - Al Green --> listen here I'm a fan of soul acts covering pop songs and Al did a great job. Nice. Which reminded me, although I wouldn't say Billy Paul's version of Paul McCartney's "Let 'em In" is any better but I do like to hear a different take once in a while. Someone's knockin' on the door, somebody's ringin' the bell.......

Lucky
Wild Horses - The Flying Burrito Brothers. Only recently available on youtube. If you don't know it, give it a listen. Technically not a cover since this version was released prior to The Stones version, but I do believe it just may be the better one (good lord, sacriledge from me!). TheLizard
I agree actually, and it's not something I'm likely to say either.
Lucky
Of course it's always been myth/rumor/fact (who knows), that the song was either completely written by, or a collaboration between Gram and Keith, so it just could be this was the way it was meant to sound, or the way it sounded originally. All I know is it's good.
skybluesky
Thanks for posting that Lucky. I just downloaded The Sunday's cover version for my originals/covers project, and now I have this version too
DemonD
"I Am the Walrus" Original by the Beatles, of course, but Spooky tooth did a fascinating cover. I won't say that it's better, just great in its own way. Here's my fave "improved" cover:"Back Door Man" by Willie Dixon, covered by The Doors. bazooka
What possessed Lou Rawls ? [smaller]I had no idea this existed. Definitely NOT an improvement on Donovan's original, nor up to Mr. Rawl's usual quality. [/smaller]

pinkstones
Baby, I Love Your Way - Big Mountain [originally performed by Peter Frampton] Grooveshark audio & YouTube video Much better in my opinion, than the Will To Power cover from 1988. You can click on the band's name to go to the YouTube video of their version, if you're interested in hearing it. Big Mountain's version is reggae-inspired, which while I'm not a fan of the genre, actually sounds good here. I actually like it better than Frampton's version. chutzpah
I've never been a big Bob Seger fan but always liked "Turn The Page" and Metallica pretty much tore it up (literally)So now I like both versions
