Songfacts Classic Yearbook

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to think of a new game, so let me know if this sounds like it might work...We will be going through the years. Starting from the class of 55 and on....Not too much to the rules...for MOST POPULAR you are to put a #1 song of that year....the rest of the categories is up to you...it's your decision...as long as the artist had a song on the charts US/UK for that year....the next person would do the next class...So what do you think? :P

Most Likely To Succeed: Bill Parsons (The All American Boy)

Credit Where Credit Is Due Dept.

This just in (from 1959)

[smaller]from Wikipedia:[/smaller]

"Just before he was drafted into the Army, Bobby Bare wrote a song called The All American Boy and did a demo for his friend, Bill Parsons, to learn and record. Instead of using the version Bill Parsons did later, the record company, Fraternity Records, decided to use the original demo done by Bobby Bare. The record reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, but they made an error: the singles' labels all credited the artist as being "Bill Parsons."
