_Laurie_
I Can't Make You Love Me Bonnie Raitt (this is such a sad song, but I love it) Turn down the lights, turn down the bed Turn down these voices inside my head Lay down with me, tell me no lies Just hold me close, don't patronize - don't patronize me Cause I can't make you love me if you don't You can't make your heart feel something it won't Here in the dark, in these lonely hours I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power But you won't, no you won't 'Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't I'll close my eyes, then I won't see The love you don't feel when you're holding me Morning will come and I'll do what's right Just give me till then to give up this fight And I will give up this fight Cause I can't make you love me if you don't You can't make your heart feel something it won't Here in the dark, in these lonely hours I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power But you won't, no you won't 'Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't You actually had a good day, all day long without any problems or worries. Jenny
Lovely Day - Bill Withers When I wake up in the morning, love And the sunlight hurts my eyes And something without warning, love Bears heavy on my mind Then I look at you And the world's alright with me Just one look at you And I know it's gonna be A lovely day ... lovely day, lovely day, lovely day ... ... lovely day, lovely day, lovely day ... Too Busy Thinking About My Baby Marvin Gaye I ain't got time To think about money Or what it can buy And I ain't got time To sit down and wonder What makes the birdies fly And I don't have the time To think about what makes the flowers grow And I never give it a second thought To where the rivers flow Too busy thinking about my baby And I ain't got time to nothing else Too busy thinking about my baby And I ain't got time to nothing else I ain't got time to discuss the weather Or how it's gonna last And I ain't got time to do no studying Once I get out of class And I'm just a fellow I got a one track mind And when it comes to Thinking about anything about my baby I just don't have the time Too busy thinking about my baby And I ain't got time to nothing else Too busy thinking about my baby And I ain't got time to nothing else All the diamonds and pearls in the world Could never match her worth She's some kind of wonderful People tell you I've got heaven right here on earth And I'm just a fellow With a one track mind And when it comes to thinking about Anything but my baby I just don't have the time Too busy thinking about my baby And I ain't got time to nothing else Too busy thinking about my baby And I ain't got time to nothing else You're busy thinking about vacation. Shawna
"Counterclockwise" RCPM Bought a pancho and sandals I threw away my shoes Brought a toothbrush and a razor I probably won’t use Hit the track, turned my back on the Headline News On my way to meet the moon on the bay Where she’s risin’ big and full and blue Where the gringo boys got their dark sunglasses And the girls on the beach are all shakin’ their fingers Cause no matter how dark the lenses They can see that the eyes and the minds of the boys are somewhere they ain’t supposed to be…. The breeze is blowin’ me a new perfume It’s givin’ my heart a little elbow room And the kids are lightin’ firecrackers Boom! Boom! Boom! No one recalls when the clock on the wall stopped wavin’ its hands all day Maybe it died of loneliness or boredom Rest in peace, you know it’s better this way The breeze is blowin’ me a new perfume It’s givin’ my heart a little elbow room And the kids are lightin’ firecrackers Boom! Boom! Boom! And all my friends are laughin’ at each other’s lies And the sea is singin’ lullabies And everything’s slowin’ down flowin’ counterclockwise Some of the Americans are ugly Americans But we know we ain’t all that way So we nod and we smile and we wait a little while Because they never stay anywhere very long, anyway The breeze is blowin’ me a new perfume It’s givin’ my heart a little elbow room And the kids are lightin’ firecrackers Boom! _Laurie_
Workin' At The Car Wash Blues Jim Croce Words and Music by Jim Croce Well, I had just got out from the county prison, Doin' ninety days for non-support. Tried to find me an executive position, But no matter how smooth I talked They wouldn't listen to the fact that I was a genius The man say, "We got all that we can use." Now I got them steadily depressin', low down mind messin' Working at the car wash blues. Well, I should be sittin' in an air conditioned office in a swivel chair Talkin' some trash to the secretaries, Sayin', "Here, now mam-ma, come on over here." Instead, I'm stuck here rubbin' these fenders with a rag And walkin' home in soggy old shoes With them steadily depressin', low down mind messin' Workin' at the car wash blues. You know a man of my ability, He should be smokin' on a big cigar. But till I get myself straight I guess I'll just have to wait In my rubber suit a-rubbin' these cars. Well, all I can do is a-shake my head You might not believe that it's true, For workin' at this end of Niagara Falls Is an undiscovered Howard Hughes. So baby, don't expect to see me With no double martini in any high-brow society news, 'Cause I got them steadily depressin', low down mind messin', Workin' at the car wash blues. (Lead break) So, baby, don't expect to see me With no double martini in any high-brow society news, 'Cause I got them steadily depressin', low down mind messin', Workin' at the car wash blues. _Laurie_
AN OLD FASHIONED LOVE SONG Three Dog Night Just an old fashioned love song Playing on the radio And wrapped around the music is the sound of someone promising they'll never go. You'll swear you've heard it before As it slowly rambles on and on. No need in bringing em back Cause they've never really gone. Just an old fashioned love song Coming down in three part harmony. Just an old fashioned love song One I'm sure they wrote for you and me, To weave our dreams upon and Listen to each evening when the light are low. To underscore our love affair With tenderness and feeling That we've come to know. You'll swear you've heard it before As it slowly rambles on and on. No need in bringing em back Cause they've never really gone. Just an old fashioned love song Coming down in three part harmony. Just an old fashioned love song One I'm sure they wrote for you and me. You need to give some good advice to a friend that's going through a rough time....

cyberjudge
Yesterday When I Was Young-Roy Clark Yesterday, when I was young, The taste of life was sweet, as rain upon my tongue, I teased at life, as if it were a foolish game, The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned, I always built, alas, on weak and shifting sand, I lived by night, and shunned the naked light of day, And only now, I see, how the years ran away Yesterday, when I was young, So many happy songs were waiting to be sung, So many wild pleasures lay in store for me, And so much pain, my dazzled eyes refused to see I ran so fast that time, and youth at last ran out, I never stopped to think, what life, was all about, And every conversation, I can now recall, Concerned itself with me, and nothing else at all Yesterday, the moon was blue, And every crazy day, brought something new to do, I used my magic age, as if it were a wand, And never saw the worst, and the emptiness beyond The game of love I played, with arrogance and pride, And every flame I lit, too quickly, quickly died, The friends I made, all seemed somehow to drift away, And only I am left, on stage to end the play There are so many songs in me, that won't be sung, I feel the bitter taste, of tears upon my tongue, The time has come for me to pay, For yesterday, when I was young _____________________________________________ You're re-experiencing youth through your children. Kevin
I've often thought of songs that would be perfect for moments in your life, big events or just everyday stuff.... So I'll start it off by say a moment in my life and then a song that would go perfect for it, just like a soundtrack.... Geddit? Of course you do Breaking up from a long term relationship? How is this a 'game ' per se ? It's a nice idea but would likely be better suited to Random Thoughts .
blind-fitter
You respond to a challenge (finding a song whose lyrics provide a suitable soundtrack to a suggested scenario), then you set a challenge for others, (to find a song suitable for a scenario of your own suggestion)and it goes on in sequence like that. The fun is in thinking of the suitable soundtrack song, then setting a new scenario. Of course it's a game, ya dork!
