Farin
just on the news today: a woman in Germany is now allowed to buy cannabis in a pharmacy (for a chronic illness) - she's the first that was allowed to do so...

bluesboy
I grew for a season on the big island of Hawaii back in the '80s. I agree it was really good. Today, there is also more sophisticated indoor growing techniques that sometimes rival the outdoor stuff.

MarcM
There are quite a few indoor growing operations in the So Cal area. There have been about 5 of them busted in the last few months totalling over 45 million. Last week, an outdoor growing operation in the hills above Glendale (a big city) was discovered after being there for years. The "farmer" had tapped into the fire department water cistern on top of the hill that is refilled every year at the beginning of summer to combat brush fires. The way they found the crop? We are in the middle of a drought here, and all of the brush is brown...all except a lovely emerald green patch that was discovered by helicopter. Value...10 million. Lucky
Which serves to demonstrate one of the needs for legalizing it. If it were legal, that farmer would be, for the most part, out of business. The stuff would be grown where the rest of the cash crops of California are. Legally. No need to tap into water systems, trespass on public lands, or any other of the illegal goings on that go along with the illegal growth and sale of pot. MarcM
If it brings down the price of cigars, I'm all for it! I think my cigars cost more than weed, I get more grief from non smokers than the loadies do and my money supposedly goes to help fund programs for children. Lucky
That, I do believe. Those non smokers can be downright mean!
c_s_1987
I am now looking down at my jeans, which are quite tattered around the heel, wishing hemp clothing was more readily available here. The protection the cotton industry is getting from hemp products is kind of stupid, since hemp is clearly a stronger material. Then again, clothing can be made from non-narcotic hemp too. I do support the legalisation of the narcotic stuff too though.
PSYCHOcatholic
I think they should legalize it, yes, over 70% of the country's population has tried, smoked, or still smokes marijuana. NO DOUBT they should use it for medicine. My mom has Multiple Sclerosis, the same as Montel Williams. He smokes weed every day medicinally to help his MS and it very rarely acts up. How can the rest of the country see this and still reject it? Now, on most debates there will be pros and cons to the decision made. Marijuana Legalized Pros- Medicinal, Lower Crime Rate, Enhances Creativity, Nobody has EVER directly died from smoking Marijuana and Whats wrong with it? Cons- Pot makes you stupid(true in some cases, but you dont stay that way) Marijuana is a doorway drug(False, Marijuana does not give you the urge to do any other drug unless chips and candy are drugs now) Marijuana Causes Cancer(Umm...well what doesnt these days?) If it ever does become an actual decision, where the people get to vote it will be mass chaos, pro pot, anti pot! things will get out of hand, its somewhat of a bigger decision than the president lol. Batman
It would be nice to know where the marijuana you smoke is coming from. That's another pro to legalization.
edna
Cons- Pot makes you stupid(true in some cases, but you dont stay that way) That´s very true, Paul... Almost half of the smokers grow weed at home in Spain, (though growing your own is llegal) but that plant needs some conditions: humidity, light, strong heat. So it´s better when you get it from outside. In that case there would always be international dealers. Now, if they made commercial agreements with Columbia, Hawaii, Morroco, Afghanistan or California like they do for otther things, we could have the best weed all through the world without going to jail. Just getting a bit stupid, sometimes and some people... but we don´t stand that way...
MarcM
It envision a whole wine tasting type thing, but instead of going to some vineyard, you are going to some guys pot farm where you can tour the growing fields, admire the buds and go to the tasting room where some Tommy Chong reject can guide you through the different types of the stickiest of icky.
