Song Question

Recommended Posts

There is a song out there, kind of a pop song, it is about a family that went into the woods on a trip and got abducted or lost, or had a car crash, I am not sure, I heard it on the radio at work, I would really like to know what it is and who it is by, I know nothing about it other than what it is about, it was popular when it came out, kind of an upbeat song about that subject, I think it came out in the mid 90s, I hope you all can figure out what the name of it is and who sang it, thanks

That sounds suspiciously like Pearl Jam's remake of "Last Kiss". I realize you said 'family', "Daddy's car" is mentioned and that is what leads me to the conclusion. Here are the lyrics...

Oh where, oh where can my baby be?

The Lord took her away from me.

She's gone to heaven, so I've got to be good,

So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

We were out on a date in my daddy's car,

we hadn't driven very far.

There in the road, straight ahead,

a car was stalled, the engine was dead.

I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right.

I'll never forget, the sound that night--

the screamin tires, the bustin glass,

the painful scream that I-- heard last.

Oh where, oh where can my baby be?

The Lord took her away from me.

She's gone to heaven, so I've got to be good,

So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

When I woke up, the rain was pourin down.

There were people standin all around.

Somethin warm flowin through my eyes,

but somehow I found my baby that night.

I lifted her head, she looked at me and said,

"Hold me darlin just a little while."

I held her close, I kissed her--our last kiss.

I found the love that i knew i had missed

well now she's gone, even though I hold her tight

I lost my love, my life-- that night.

Oh where, oh where can my baby be?

The Lord took her away from me.

She's gone to heaven so I've got to be good,

So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

Hope that helped, Ken.

Thanks Ken, although that's not it, it does sound like it though, but no, its a later pop kind of song, i heard that the story it is about was a true one, about either a family or a group of people going on some kind of trip and they never made it back, this is seriously bugging me, i just can't figure out what it is. It has a pop kind of beat to it and is a fast song, not rock at all I don't think. Thanks though, I appreciate it

The Way

by Fastball

(various radio commercial, song clips)

They made up their minds

And they started packing

They left before the sun came up that day

An exit to eternal summer slacking

But where were they going without ever

Knowing the way

They drank up the wine

And they got to talking

They now had more important things to say

And when the car broke down they started walking

Where were they going without ever

Knowing the way

Anyone can see the road that they walk on

Is paved in gold

It's always summer

They'll never get cold

They'll never get hungry

They'll never get old and grey

You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere

They won't make it home

But they really don't care

They wanted the highway

They're happier there today

Their children woke up

And they couldn't find them

They left before the sun came up that day

They just drove off and left it all behind 'em

But where were they going without ever

Knowing the way

Anyone can see the road that they walk on

Is paved in gold

It's always summer

They'll never get cold

They'll never get hungry

They'll never get old and grey

You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere

They won't make it home

But they really don't care

They wanted the highway

They're happier there today

Today

Anyone can see the road that they walk on

Is paved in gold

It's always summer

They'll never get cold

They'll never get hungry

They'll never get old and grey

You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere

They won't make it home

But they really don't care

They wanted the highway

They're happier there today

Today
