Just a note. I find it interesting that Elvis' "Blue Suede Shoes" draws such attention from voters. The big hit was the original done by Carl Perkins (who also wrote the song) which reached #1 on the charts and stayed there quite a while. Elvis's version (which reached no higher than #20) was not nearly as well received by the public. I know this because I was there. Yet Elvis's version which is not nearly as good as Perkins' is perceived by most to be the original while it was just an attempt by a record company to sell more records by a hot artist.

I wonder how Perkins' version would fare if nominated. Sometimes I guess we just vote for a name.

I prefer Perkins' version as well.

I also like both versions, but since Elvis' is the first one I heard, I connect to that one more. Plus, like I said, he makes it sexy. Still if Carl Perkins' version were nominated, I'd vote for it, 'cause it's a good song.
