RedLance Posted August 12, 2007 Report Share Posted August 12, 2007 defy "longing"? ...to feel a strong desire or craving especially for something not likely to be attained I would definately have to put "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from the Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack on this list. Another good song (albiet a Christmas one) is "River" by Sarah MacLachlan. The Dixie Chicks had three ringers for this category on their "Top of the World" CD. If you like country music check out "A Home", "Godspeed", and "Top of the World". Top of the World is a cover of the original song by Patty Griffin. If YEARNING is the same as LONGING you might consider "When We Dance" by Sting. "Breathe Me" by Sia is another ringer for this category of "longing". More STRONG contenda's are "Here with Me" by Dido "Dont Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush I hope this gets you started!
