this one goes out to RonJon and Uncle Joe. I don't know what you all are talkin' about with the wildwood stuff... but I figgered this was fittin'.

Wildwood Weed

by Jim Stafford

The wildwood flower grew wild on the farm,

And we never knowed what it was called.

Some said it was a flower and some said it was weed,

I never gave it much thought ......

One day I was out there talking to my brother,

Reached down for a weed to chew on,

Things got fuzzy and things got blurry,

And then everything was gone!

Didn't know what happened,

But I knew it beat the hell out of sniffin' burlap.

I come to and my brother was there,

And he said, What's wrong with your eyes?

I said, I don't know, I was chewing on a weed.

He said, Let me give it a try.

We spent the rest of that day and most of that night,

Trying to find my brother, Bill.

Caught up with him, 'bout six o'clock the next morning,

Naked, swinging on the wind mill!

He said he flew up there.

I had to fly up there and bring him down,

He was about half crazy .....

The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds,

And put 'em in the sun to dry.

Then we mashed 'em up and chopped 'em up,

And put 'em in the corncob pipe.

Smokin' that wildwood flower got to be a habit,

We didn't see no harm.

We thought it was kind of handy,

Take a trip and never leave the farm!

All good things gotta come to an end,

And it's the same with the wildwood weed.

One day this feller from Washington came by,

And he spied and turned white as a sheet.

Then they dug and they burned,

And they burned and they dug,

And they killed all our cute little weeds.

Then they drove away,

We just smiled and waved ..........

Sittin' there on that sack of seeds!

Y'all come back now, hear?

This one is for some one all of us love very much. I'm sure we all feel this way about Edna.

Queen - You're My Best Friend

Ooh you make me live

Whatever this world can give to me

It's you you're all I see

Ooo you make me live now honey

Ooo you make me live

Ooh you're the best friend that I ever had

I've been with you such a long time

You're my sunshine and I want you to know

That my feelings are true

I really love you

Oh you're my best friend

Ooo you make me live

Ooh I've been wandering round

But I still come back to you

In rain or shine

You've stood by me girl

I'm happy at home

You're my best friend

Ooo you make me live

Whenever this world is cruel to me

I got you to help me forgive

Ooo you make me live now honey

Ooo you make me live

You're the first one

When things turn out bad

You know I'll never be lonely

You're my only one

And I love the things

I really love the things that you do

You're my best friend

Ooo you make me live

I'm happy at home

You're my best friend

Oh you're my best friend

Ooo you make me live

You you're my best friend

This one is for RonJon who makes sure we get all the good news, and well sometimes strange and interesting news about the rich and famous!! RJ you are the king of news, give me a call if you want your crown, I will have a special ceremony to give it to you! ;)

Dirty Laundry ~ Don Henley

I make my living off the evening news

Just give me something-something I can use

People love it when you lose,

They love dirty laundry

Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here

I just have to look good, I dont have to be clear

Come and whisper in my ear

Give us dirty laundry

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em when theyre down

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em when theyre down

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em when theyre down

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em all around

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who

Comes on at five

She can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam

In her eye

Its interesting when people die-

Give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation?

Is the head dead yet?

You know, the boys in the newsroom got a

Running bet

Get the widow on the set!

We need dirty laundry

You dont really need to find out whats going on

You dont really want to know just how far its gone

Just leave well enough alone

Eat your dirty laundry

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em when theyre down

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em when theyre down

Kick em when theyre up

Kick em when theyre down

Kick em when theyre stiff

Kick em all around

Dirty little secrets

Dirty little lies

We got our dirty little fingers in everybodys pie

We love to cut you down to size

We love dirty laundry

We can do the innuendo

We can dance and sing

When its said and done we havent told you a thing

We all know that crap is king

Give us dirty laundry!

For Jane. Janis would be too easy. Melissa's got that raspiness in her voice that reminds me of Jane and Janis. And of course, Sweet Jane really is the only one.

Please baby cant you see

My minds a burnin hell

I got razors a rippin and tearin and strippin

My heart apart as well

Tonight you told me

That you ache for something new

And some other woman is lookin like something

That might be good for you

Go on and hold her till the screaming is gone

Go on believe her when she tells you

Nothings wrong

But Im the only one

Who'll walk across the fire for you

Im the only one

Who'll drown in my desire for you

Its only fear that makes you run

The demons that youre hiding from

When all your promises are gone

Im the only one

Please baby cant you see

Im trying to explain

Ive been here before and Im locking the door

And Im not going back again

Her eyes and arms and skin wont make

It go away

Youll wake up tomorrow and wrestle the sorrow

That holds you down today

Go on and hold her till the screaming is gone

Go on believe her when she tells you

Nothings wrong

But Im the only one

Who'll walk across the fire for you

Im the only one

Who'll drown in my desire for you

Its only fear that makes you run

The demons that youre hiding from

When all your promises are gone

Im the only one

Six months ago I was in a terribly bad place. I received this song and the lyrics from a Songfacts gentle man, that became my daily prayer:

Keep Me From Blowing Away ~ Linda Ronstadt

Well I spent my whole lifetime

In a world where the sunshine

Finds excuses for not hangin' 'round

I squandered emotions

On the slightest of notions

And the first easy loving I found

But soon all the good times

The gay times and play times

Like colors run together and fade

Oh Lord if you hear me

Touch me and hold me

And keep me from blowing away

There's times when I trembled

When my mind remembered

The days that just crumbled away

With nothing to show

But these lines that I know

Are beginning to show in my face

Oh Lord if you're listening

I know I'm no Christian

And I ain't got much coming to me

So send down some sunshine

Throw out your lifeline

And keep me from blowing away

Oh Lord if you hear me

Touch me and hold me

And keep me from blowing away

Those lyrics became my mantra, that sweet and gentle man, became the lifeline that the song speaks of. He kept me from blowing away. Today, I dedicate these lines to him:

LOVE FOR THE LAST TIME ~ Carole King

Seems funny now to think of how I call you up

to talk about all the little things

that were in my mind

You were a friend,

you listened to all I dreamed of

I wanted a real love,

the good old fashioned kind.

It was you all along

You who kept me strong.

I wonder how I could've been so blind

You kissed me like a lover,

loved me like a friend

And I'm in love for the last time.

I got burned,seems like everybody does,by romance

Still I yearn and though I didn't know just what it was,

I got a second chance.

Just think of it,

If we had missed the moment,

we might have spent the years ahead

believing love had passed

I found a love to last a lifetime

I'm in love for the last time,

and time will make it last.

It was you all along,

You who kept me strong

I don't know how I could've been so blind.

You kissed me like a lover,

loved me like a friend

And I'm in love for the last time

It was you all along ...

"The" classic, dedicated to my Songfacts friends...

There are places i'll remember

All my life though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments

With lovers and friends i still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life i've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When i think of love as something new

Though i know i'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know i'll often stop and think about them

In my life i love you more

Though i know i'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know i'll often stop and think about them

In my life i love you more

In my life i love you more

Brickhouse ~ The Commodores

Ow she's a Brick-house,

She's mighty mighty,

Just lettin' it all hang out

She's a brick-house,

That lady's stacked,

And that's a fact,

Ain't holdin' nothin' back,

Ow she's a brick-house,

Well we're together everybody knows,

This is how the story goes...

She knows she's got everything,

That a woman needs, to get a man

How can she lose, with such a youth,

Thirty six, twenty four, thirty six,

What a winning hand!

She's a Brick-house,

She's mighty mighty,

Just lettin' it all hang out.

Yea she's a brick-house,

That lady's stacked,

And that's a fact,

Ain't holdin' nothin back,

Oh she's a brick-house,

Yeah she's the one, the only one,

Built like an Amazon

The clothes she wears, her sexy ways,

Makes her, ole man wish,

For younger days yeah yeah

She knows she's built,

And knows how to please.

Sho' nuff can knock a strong man to his knees.

Cause she's a brick-house,

She's mighty mighty,

Just lettin' it all hang out.

Oh she's a brick-house,

That lady's stacked,

And that's a fact,

Ain't holdin' nothin' back, yeah

Shake it down shake it down

Shake it down shake it down now

Shake it down, shake it down now,

Shake it down shake it ooo ga ga

Shake it down, shake it down

Shake it down shake it down now

Shake it down, shake it down now,

Shake it down shake it shake it

Brick-House -

Yeah, she's mighty mighty,

Just letting it all hang out

Ah what a brick-house,

Yeah she's the one, the only one,

Built like an Amazon.

Shake it down, shake it down

Shake it down shake it down now

Shake it down, shake it down

Shake it down shake it shake it

Shake it down, shake it down

Shake it down shake it down now

Shake it down, shake it down now,

Shake it down shake it shake it

Oh what a Brick-house,

She's mighty mighty,

Just lettin' it all hang out

Yea she's a brick-house,

That lady's stacked, that's the fact,

Ain't holdin' nothin' back,

Owww she's a brick-house

Yea she's the one, the only one,

Built like a Amazon

This one is for bluesy, he is a good friend and just one cool good guy! He's got soul for sure!

Soul Man ~ Sam & Dave

Comin' to ya, on a dusty road,

Good lovin', I got a truck load.

And when you get it, you got somethin',

So don't worry, cause I'm comin'.

Cause I'm a soul man, I'm a soul man.

Yea I'm a soul man. I'm a soul man.

Got what I got, the hard way,

And I'll make you better, each and every day,

So honey, don't you fret,

Cause you ain't seen, nothin' yet.

Cause I'm a soul man, I'm a soul man.

Yea I'm a soul man. I'm a soul man.

I was brought up, on a side street.

Learned how to love, before I could eat.

I was educated, for good stock.

"Cause when I start lovin', I just can't stop.

Cause I'm a soul man, I'm a soul man.

Yea I'm a soul man. I'm a soul man.

Well grab a rope, and I'll pull you in.

Give you hope, and be your only boy friend.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Cause I'm a soul man, I'm a soul man.

Yea I'm a soul man. I'm a soul man.

Cause I'm a soul man, I'm a soul man.

Yea I'm a soul man. I'm a soul man.

I need to dedicate this to all of the wonderful SF ladies...lovely, intelligent and rock and rollers:

Darlin' (The Beach Boys)

Ohh darlin'

My darlin' you're so fine

Ohhhh-hhh-hhh

Don't know if words can say

But darlin' I'll find a way

To let you know what you meant to me

Guess it was meant to be

I hold you in my heart

As life's most precious part

Oh darlin'

I dream about you often my pretty darlin'

(Darlin' you're so fine)

I love the way you soften my life with your love

Your precious love uh huh oh

I was living like half a man

Then I couldn't love but now I can

You pick me up when I'm feeling sad

More soul than I ever had

Gonna love you every single night

Cause I think you're too outta sight

Oh darlin'

I dream you often my pretty darlin'

(Darlin' you're so fine)

I love the way soften my life with your love

Your precious love uh huh huh

Woah oh oh oh

Every night darlin'

Gonna love you every single night, yes I will

Cause I think you're too doggone outta sight

Oh darlin'

I dream you often my pretty darlin'

(Darlin' you're so fine)

I love the way soften my life with your love

Your precious love uh huh huh

Oh

But I want to dedicate this to the finest rockin' DJ in the world...Sweet Jane..

D.J. - The Song

Words by David Bowie. Music by David Bowie, Brian Eno and Carlos Alomar.

I'm home, lost my job, and incurably ill

You think this is easy, realism

I've got a girl out there, I suppose

I think she's dancing

Feel like Dan Dare lies down

I think she's dancing, what do I know?

I am a D.J., I am what I play

Can't turn around no, can't turn around, no, oh, ooh

I am a D.J., I am what I play

Can't turn around no, can't turn around, no, oh no

I am a D.J., I am what I play

I got believers (kiss-kiss)

Believing me, oh

One more, weekend, of lights and evening faces

Fast food, living nostalgia

Humble pie or bitter fruit

I am a D.J., I am what I play

Can't turn around no, can't turn around no, ooh

I am a D.J., I am what I say

Can't turn around no, can't turn around, ooh

I am a D.J., I am what I play

I've got believers (kiss-kiss)

Believing me

I am a D.J., I am what I play

Can turn around no, can't turn around

I am a D.J., I am what I play

Can turn around no, can't turn around

I am a D.J., I am what I play

Can turn around no (kiss-kiss)

Time flies when you're having fun

Break his heart, break her heart

He used to be my boss and now he is a puppet dancer

I am a D.J., and I've got believers

I've got believers

I've got believers

I've got believers in me

I've got believers

I am a D.J., I am what I play

I am a D.J.

It wouldn't be appropriate for me to post the lyrics to Kielbasa by the almighty Tenacious D, but I dedicate it to Laurie anyway. It's the closest thing to a salami song I can think of.

Thanks Peachy!....Even though I prefer Italian, Kielbasa is fine....

(Oh stop that!...you know who you are!) ;)
