OLD 55
Many of the nominations in this Ten are a nostalgia trip for me; of course I've been around longer than any of you (old fart). I could very easily make a Top Twenty right now. I think I'll apologise in advance for having to leave some great songs out of my Ten. Slave To Love - Bryan Ferry You Never Can Tell - Chuck Berry (Is that the correct name?) Two great nominations, although Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music just don't seem to cut it in the States. And that sure is the correct name ! LYRICAL INTERLUDE You Never Can Tell It was a teenage wedding, and the old folks wished them well You could see that Pierre did truly love the madamoiselle And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell, "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell They furnished off an apartment with a two room Roebuck sale The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale, But when Pierre found work, the little money comin' worked out well "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast Seven hundred little records, all rock, rhythm and jazz But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell They bought a souped-up jitney, 'twas a cherry red '53, They drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely madamoiselle "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell
Lucky
Darryl, I'm in the same boat even though I'm not quite the old fart that you are! I'll offer up my apologies too. ...and I was just about to tell Katie, yes indeedy, that is the correct song title, and a great nomination too! OLD 55
There's some beauties Lucky. I'm going through now looking at the videos of songs I don't know, and I just noticed another great 60s song Down In The Boondocks nominated by CanAm. I'll have to find a place for that in my Ten ! And girls your age are considered Chicks to me, Lucky. P.S. to Joe: I can't view your second song Mate. P.P.S. to Namahage: Local Hero/Wild Theme - Dire Straits. Thank you for that beautiful song. Mark Knofler is simply a brilliant guitarist. :guitar:
