Lucky
Back to basics this week... Kansas City ~ Wilbert Harrison (1959) considered one of the most influential songs in rock n roll A Lover's Concerto ~ The Toys (1965) a simple finger exercise, transformed into what has been called a nearly perfect song
OLD 55
Thanks Tim ! I promise to have a good listen to both of yours ! I really like A Lover's Concerto Lucky. It's actually adapted from a Bach piece. I think Kansas City was nominated once before ? I like it too.
Lucky
Neither song has been nominated before according to the Archives. I was flabbergasted (love that word ). Actually "A Lover's Concerto" is adapted from the "Minuet in G Major". If I'd used the other youtube clip available, Petula would've told you that! Lucky
Well Seeker has brought my top ten up to 9 now. Only 1 more person may nominate, and one of theirs must be a throw away! It would pain me too much to leave any of these songs out. Top thirty here we come!
OLD 55
The first Cat Stevens song I ever heard, Fin ! I have it somewhere on a 'Best Of British' vinyl Album. I like it. The Supremes just don't seem to be able to make it - maybe because they had too many good songs ! I nominated my favourite of their's 'Stop In The Name Of Love' some time ago. Cheers to all my friends I can see online now ! Bedtime For Bonzo. Goodnight All.
The Seeker
I think it was the first one I heard too, but for a long time, I didn't know it was by Cat Stevens. And I was surprised to see that the Supremes haven't made the ten yet! Edited July 9, 2007 by Guest
