Can you guys recommend me some songs with a "sad story" in it?

No Quarter by Led Zeppelin sounds to me like something you'd be looking for.

Close the doors, put out the light

You know they won't be home tonight

The snow falls hard and don't you know

The winds of Thor are blowing cold

They're wearing steel that's bright and true

They carry news that must get through

They choose the path where no-one goes

They hold no quarter,

They hold no quarter.

Oh...

Walking side by side with death

The devil mocks their every step

The snow drives back the foot that's slow

The dogs of doom are howling low

They carry news that must get through

To build a dream for me and you

They choose the path that no one goes

They hold no quarter,

They ask no quarter,

They hold no quarter,

They ask no quarter...they think about no quater...With no quarter quarter.

Oh No...

Patchwork Quilt by Michelle Lanchester

They unfolded your lives one by one

They laid out your patchwork under the sun

And people gathered from miles around

To witness your quilt spread on the ground.

And then they called out your name

Oh yes they called out your name

Oh and you will live forever

You know that I'll be loving you

Just like a patchwork quilt.

Well there were men and women, mothers and fathers

Sisters and brothers, daughters and sons

And children and babies, and lovers and friends

They all lay before me sewn into one.

Your lives had meaning and your lives had joy

You touches so many peole, many more than you will know

And you wrapped yourselves around me

As I walked along these rows

You're letting me feel your beautiful souls.

I feel the warmth of your lives

Oh and you will live forever

You know that I'll be loving you

Just like a patchwork quilt.

My heart spills over, flowing with tears

I cry for your suffering and

for your shortened years

And I'll take you with me as I walk away

Remembering you who have died with AIDS

Yes, I remember your names

Oh I remember your names

Oh and you will live forever

You know that I'll be loving you

Just like a patchwork quilt.

Originally performed by Sweet Honey In The Rock. There is a truly memorable performance by Keali'i Reichel on his 1997 "E O Mai" CD release.

This is the saddest song ever written. Add to that the way George Jones sings it, and you are wallowing in tears before it's half over. Take a listen:

He Stopped Loving Her Today

This is a very sad song. I actually listened to the whole song for the first time a few months ago while flipping through radio stations in a traffic jam.

When I was little "WildFire" by Micheal M Murphy always made me sad.

Also "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross. I've actually had to change the radio when it comes on.

Hi. The original ( PATCHES ) bt Mark Dinning is a good one.

Also, IF YOU CAME BACK FROM HEAVEN BY Lori Morgan.

And some of the Statler brothers songs are sad. THAT SUMMER is talking , a guy remembering the past. There is a line in the song that just blows me away every time I hear it, but I won't give it away unless you ask.

From my own collection, I suggeat,

" Tell Laura I love her , by ? Maybe Ray Peterson.

Also, Running bear, and I can't rememebr who did it, but a country singer, Sonny James did a cover for it. Not as good, but you can listen to it.

Hope this helps.
