blue_n_white
Although Jackson Browne isn't one of my all time faves, the song "Running on Empty" is.It came out about the time I got my drivers license and I can remember that song being one of the first that I had cranked up while cruising in my 1971 Ford Maverick.Lame car but it had a killer stereo. Sweet Jane 61
Welcome to SF!! And I like that tune too. And when you got your first car who cared what it looked like as long as it could play your music!
_Laurie_
When my daughter bought her first car...1992 Plymouth....she called it "Old Betty"....I thought that was cute... sorry getting off track here again...oh well...
blue_n_white
On the subject of first cars, which I know is off the music subject, but the afore mentioned 1971 Ford Maverick of mine caused me to flunk my driving test the first time I took it.The officer giving the road test asked me to turn on the headlights, which went fine.Asked me to honk the horn, which went fine too.But then he asked me to turn on the windshield wipers and as I went to do this, the knob came off and I couldn't get it back on. He told me to come back a month later when it was fixed.A month later I drove my sisters car.Wasn't chancing another malfunction.
Sweet Jane 61
My first car was a VW Bug with no heat, no window crank on the passenger side and no radio!! I had to get an 8-track deck put in! Man I am old!!

skybluesky
Jackson Browne wrote songs for Nico and was her lover. That spells coolness for me.
edna
*buzz* Sorry, you lose. Go sit in that corner. It´s not a song, I was just saying that "Runnin on Empty" is a very good album...
Shawna
Jackson Browne wrote songs for Nico and was her lover. That spells coolness for me. it would have been more cool if he had written songs for me and been my lover.
Sweet Jane 61
Don't think Darryl Hannah was happy to be his lover...bruises aren't all that romantic.
Ombre Vivante
Never really cared for the guy's music, except for the song "Late For The Sky"... and that's because it was featured in Taxi Driver when Travis was watching American Bandstand. The contrast between that scene and the scene that preceeded it is pure cinematic genius
Ombre Vivante
Don't think Darryl Hannah was happy to be his lover...bruises aren't all that romantic. Haha. No way? This wuss is a wife-beater in real life?
_Laurie_
I was never into Jackson Browne too much....I like a few songs, and he is a good songwriter but he can get boring after awhile...
blue_n_white
I liked a few of his songs. I loved "Running On Empty" when it came out. Also like "Doctor My Eyes", "The Pretender", "Tender is the Night" and "Stay". But like you said Laurie,he can kind of give you the yawns after awhile. But now I kind of have a different opinion of him if he beats up women. Not a cool thing at all.
