Artsists: U.S. Cities in song lyrics

Mike

Recommended Posts

The song with the most cities seems to be ...

The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA Santa Cruz, Manhattan, Pacific Palisades, San Onofre, Redondo Beach , La Jolla, Wa'imea Bay

and

Billy Joel - Miami 2017 with Brooklyn, Manhattan, Harlem, Queens,Norfolk coming in at a close second.

Songfacts list these Songs with city in the TITLE and most have them in the lyrics.

Others I found not listed on songfacts ...

Paper Lace - the night Chicago died

Bobby Sherman ? The bluest skies I've ever seen are in Seattle

There is a house in New Orleans they call the rising sun, and it's been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God I know I'm one.

Day is night in New York City; smoke, like water, runs inside. Steel idle trees to pity every living things that's died

Well, on a train, I met a dame; she rather handsome, we kind looked the same. She was pretty -from New York City. I'm walkin' down that same old fair lane

Callin' out, around the world

Are you ready for a brand new beat?

Summer's here, and the time is right

For dancin' in the street

They're dancin' in Chicago (They'll be dancin')

Down in New Orleans (Dancin' in the streets)

Up in New York City (Dancing in the streets)

All we need is music (Sweet sweet)

Sweet music (sweet sweet music)

There'll be music everywhere (sweet music everywhere)

(Ooh-oo-ooh) There'll be swingin', swayin', records playin'

Dancin' in the street

(Ah) Oh, it doesn't matter what you wear

Just as long as you are there

So come on (Ah) every guy, grab a girl, everywhere, 'round the world

There'll be dancin', dancin' in the street

(Ooh-oo-ooh) It's just an invitation, 'cross the nation

A chance for the folks to meet

There'll be laughin', singin', music swingin'

Dancin' in the street

Philadelphia, PA (Dancin' in the street)

Baltimore, in D.C. now (Dancin' in the streets)

Can't forget the Motor City (Dancin' in the streets)

All we need is music (Sweet sweet)

Sweet music (sweet sweet music)

There'll be music everywhere (sweet music everywhere)

(Oooh-oo-ooh) There'll be swingin', swayin', records playin'

Dancin' in the street, oh!

(Ah) Doesn't matter what you wear

Just as long as you are there

Come on, (Ah) every guy, grab your girl, everywhere, 'round the world

Wow!

Hey hey hey!

Ow yeah, ow!

(Guitar Solo)

Dancin', they're dancin' in the street

(Dancin' in the streets)

Way down in L.A. everyday

(Dancin' in the streets)

Dancin' in the street

(Dancin' in the streets)

San Francisco way (Ooh-ooh-ooh)

(Dancin' in the streets)

They do it everyday now

(Dancin' in the streets)

Across the ocean blue, )Ooh-ooh-ooh) me an' you

(Dancin' in the streets)

Dancin' in the street

(Dancin' in the streets)

Ha - Just heard this one while on hold on the phone ...

Well I'm a runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load I've got seven women on my mind Four that wanna own me, two that wanna stone me One says she's a friend of mine Take it easy, take it easy Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy Lighten up while you still can Don't even try to understand Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow , Arizona Such a fine sight to see It's a girl my lord in a flat-bed Ford Slowin' down to take a look at me Come on, baby, don't say maybe I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me We may lose and we may win, though we may never be here again So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load Got a world of trouble on my mind Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find Take it easy, take it easy Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy Come on baby, don't say maybe I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me

How about "I've Been Everywhere" by Hank Snow? I think that song has the most cities in it, sung in rapid-fire fashion.

Since I can't edit my post, here are the lyrics:

I was totin' my pack along a dusty Winnemucca road

When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load

"If you're going to Winnemucca, Mac with me you can ride."

So I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside

He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand

And I said, [break] "Listen, Bud I've traveled every road in this here

land."

(Chorus)

I've been everywhere, man, I've been everywhere, man

'Cross the deserts bare, man, I've breathed the mountain air, man

Of travel, I've had my share, man, I've been everywhere.

I been to Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow,

Sarasota,

Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma,

Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo, Tocopilla, Barranquilla, and

Padilla, I'm a killer. (to chorus)

Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana, Washington, Houston, Kingston,

Texarkana,

Monterey, Ferraday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa, Glen Rock, Black Rock, Little

Rock, Oskaloosa,

Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee, Spirit Lake, Grand Lake, Devil Lake,

Crater Lake, for Pete's sake; (to Chorus)

Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika, Shefferville, Jacksonville,

Waterville, Costa Rica,

Pittsfield, Springfield, Bakersfield, Shreveport, Hackensack, Cadillac,

Fond Du Lac, Davenport,

Idaho, Jellicoe, Pickle Cros, Argentina, Diamontina, Pasadena, Catalina,

see what I mean, (to next verse)

Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravellburg, Colorado, Ellensburg, Rexburg,

Vicksburg, Eldorado,

Larrimore, Atmore, Haverstraw, Chattanika, Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska,

Opelika,

Baraboo, Waterloo, Kalamazoo, Kansas City, Sioux City, Cedar City, Dodge

City, what a pity;

(Chorus)

Bryan Adams

Waking Up The Neighbours

Kids Wanna Rock

Turned on the radio

Sounded like a disco

Musta turned the dial for a couple of miles

But I couldn't find no rock 'n roll

This computerized crap ain't gettin' me off

Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock

London to L.A.

Talkin' 'bout the New Wave

For a couple of bucks you get a weird haircut

And waste your life away

Around the world or around the block

Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock

Get me my D.J.

I got somethin' he's gotta play

Wanna hear it I can't wait

So turn it up, turn it up...

Kick down the barricades

Listen what the kids say

From time to time people change their minds

But the music is here to stay

I've seen it all from the bottom to the top

Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock

Around the world or around the block

Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock

Everywhere I go the kids wanna rock

Living in Alabama, i hear this song ALLL the time!

http://www.songfacts.com/detail.lasso?id=1702

SWEET HOME ALABAMA--Lynyrd Skynyrd

Big wheels keep on turnin'

Carry me home to see my kin

Singin' songs about the southland

I miss 'ole' 'bamy once again

and I think it's a sin

Well I heard Mr. Young sing about her

Well I heard ole Neil put her down

Well, I hope Neil Young will remember

a southern man don't need him around anyhow

CHORUS

Sweet home Alabama

where the skies are so blue

Sweet home Alabama

Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the Gov'nor - Boo Boo Boo

Now we all did what we could do

Now Watergate does not bother me

does your conscience bother you - tell the truth

CHORUS

Now Muscle Shoals has got the swampers

and they've been known to pick a tune or two - yes they do

Lord they get me off so much

they pick me up when I'm feeling blue - now how about you

CHORUS

:guitar: :drummer:
