Infected Mushroom - Vicious Delicious

200pximvdjn8.jpg

I first heard this duo a few years ago, and never really got too into them, but after hearing this album, am converted!

Described as "an electronic hybrid of trance, psychedelic, and rock", the album expands the original genre of the duo into new crossover areas. I like the way I can put it into the CD player and each song brings something new and sounds like a different album with each track.

Would go down equally well in a club or driving along on your own.

Standout tracks for me are Forgive Me, Special Place and In Front Of Me.

Tracklisting:

1. "Becoming Insane" - 7:20

2. "Artillery" - 4:28

3. "Vicious Delicious" - 7:24

4. "Heavyweight" - 8:41

5. "Suliman" - 6:10

6. "Forgive Me" - 3:29

7. "Special Place" - 6:53

8. "In Front of Me" - 4:28

9. "Eat it Raw" - 6:30

10. "Change the Formality" - 7:44

11. "Before" - 6:56

Take a >>listen<< :headphones:

The Man Who ~ Travis

All tracks written by Francis Healy, except where noted.

1. "Writing to Reach You" – 3:41

2. "The Fear" – 4:12

3. "As You Are" – 4:14

4. "Driftwood" – 3:33

5. "The Last Laugh of the Laughter" – 4:19

6. "Turn" – 4:23

7. "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?" – 4:24

8. "Luv" (Healy-Seymour) – 4:55

9. "She's So Strange" – 3:15

10. "Slide Show" – 10:31

The Man Who, a quiet album filled to the brim with atmospheric and introspective ballads. Acoustic guitars and tranquil melodies rule here, as this release is an entirely different affair than the band's revved-up debut. Fortunately for Travis, this disc became a massive U.K. hit, spawning no less than five hugely successful singles. The album highlight is "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?," a sweeping singalong that took England by storm and became one of the biggest hits of 1999.

Bringing Down The Horse - The Wallflowers (1996)

WallflowersBringingDowntheHorse.jpg

Track Listing:

"One Headlight" – 5:13

"6th Avenue Heartache" – 5:37

"Bleeders" – 3:41

"Three Marlenas" – 4:59

"The Difference" – 3:50

"Invisible City" – 4:48

"Laughing Out Loud" – 3:39

"Josephine" – 5:09

"God Don't Make Lonely Girls" – 4:49

"Angel on My Bike" – 4:22

"I Wish I Felt Nothing" – 5:04

This album, the band's second, was produced by T-Bone Burnett. The hit singles were "One Headlight" "6th Avenue Heartache" and "The Difference". It's a nice laid-back rock album, and despite being Bob Dylan's son, Jakob Dylan can actually sing.

I was shocked that no AC/DC had ever been included on MoC :o . I'm happy to be the first however :) .

BACK IN BLACK -- AC/DC

312348NKAQL._AA240_.jpg

Track listing (All by Johnson, Young, and Young)

1. Hells Bells

2. Shoot To Thrill

3. What Do You Do for Money Honey

4. Givin the Dog a Bone

5. Let Me Put My Love into You

6. Back in Black

7. You Shook Me All Night Long

8. Have a Drink on Me

9. Shake a Leg

10. Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution

The epitome of both pub and stadium rock in my opinion.

All Music guide says:

The first album from the new group, Back in Black, was issued only five months after Scott's passing but immediately rocketed up the charts, eventually becoming one of rock's all-time classics. By 1997, it had sold an astounding 16 million copies in the U.S. alone. The result was such perennial rock anthems as the stomping title track, the eerie "Hell's Bells," the melodic "Shoot to Thrill," the album-closing battle cry "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution," and one of AC/DC's best and most recognizable tracks, "You Shook Me All Night Long." Not a single weak track is included; even the lesser-known album tracks are strong ("Have a Drink on Me," "Shake a Leg"). Back in Black is the ultimate example of a band turning a career-threatening negative into a remarkable positive and stands alongside such landmark albums as Van Halen, Led Zeppelin II, Are You Experienced?, and Paranoid as hard rock's greatest achievements. Rock music rarely gets better than Back in Black.

And a renomination:

Come Upstairs

by Carly Simon 1980

b000002klf01lzzzzzzzxz0.jpg

In her tenth album, released in 1980, Carly Simon turned to power-pop again after a jazzy period, though there are still many songs that are hard to put a label on. Some very beautiful tunes and only one hit, "Jesse".

Songs

1 Come Upstairs

2 Stardust

3 Them

4 Jesse

5 James

6 In Pain

7 Three of Us in the Dark

8 Take Me as I Am (Or Let Me Go)

9 Dessert

All the songs were written by Carly Simon and her producer, Mike Mainieri (except for "In Pain": Simon/Mainieri/Grolnick; "Take me as I am": Simon/Mainieri/McGinnis)

The musicians in the studio were the same that recorded Paul Simon´s "Still crazy after all these years".

The Cars

Candy-O

Their second album, and the best in my opinion (not humble  ), it was recorded in 1977 and released in June, one year later.

List of songs (all written by Ric Ocasek):

1- "Let's Go"

2- "Since I Held You"

3- "It's All I Can Do"

4- "Double Life"

5- "Shoo Be Doo"

6- "Candy-O"

7- "Night Spots"

8- "You Can't Hold on Too Long"

9- "Lust for Kicks"

10- "Got a Lot on My Head"

11. "Dangerous Type"

The band:

Ric Ocasek (rhythm guitar, lead vocals)

Benjamin Orr (bass guitar, lead vocals on tracks 1, 2, 3, 6, 8)

Elliot Easton (lead guitar, backing vocals)

Greg Hawkes (keyboards, percussion, saxophone, vocals)

David Robinson (drums, percussion)

Wikipedia says:

The cover was designed by Alberto Vargas. His model, perhaps not coincidentally named Candy Moore, was dating David Robinson at the time of recording.

Great choices so far.

Rainbow Bridge by Jimi Hendrix

rainyu8.jpg

Rainbow Bridge (Soundtrack from the Film "Rainbow Bridge") was the second posthumous release of Jimi Hendrix music by Reprise Records. The album was released in October of 1971 and consisted of all new material. The album peaked at 15 on the U.S. Billboard album chart. Although it appears to be a "Live" performance album, only one of the tracks was recorded live. "Hear My Train A Comin'" was recorded live on May 30, 1970 at the Berkeley Community Center in California. All other songs are from studio sessions, including the single "Dolly Dagger". The single peaked at 74 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single's B-side was the beautiful studio version of "The Star Spangled Banner" performed by Hendrix overdubbing several guitars. It is noteworthy that Reprise listed Hendrix as a co-producer of this album. It is the last time they would give Hendrix credit. Even though Hendrix produced "Electric Ladyland" and was also listed as a co-producer of "The Cry of Love", Reprise decided never to list Hendrix as a producer or co-producer and any albums released after "Rainbow Bridge.

Track listing

Side 1

Dolly Dagger (Jimi Hendrix)

Earth Blues (Jimi Hendrix)

Pali Gap (Jimi Hendrix)

Room Full of Mirrors (Jimi Hendrix)

The Star Spangled Banner (Traditional) [see Francis Scott Key]

Side 2

Look Over Yonder (Jimi Hendrix)

Hear My Train A Comin' (Jimi Hendrix)

Hey Baby (Jimi Hendrix)

Personnel

Jimi Hendrix – guitar, vocals

Billy Cox – bass

Noel Redding – bass on "Look Over Yonder"

Mitch Mitchell – drums

Buddy Miles – drums, vocals on "Room Full of Mirrors.
